The WAFL would be similarly on it's knees if it wasn't propped up by the two AFL clubs. The WAFL is effectively dead due to Subiaco's dominance and only a few of the same clubs able to challenge them over the past 15 years.

Firstly the a lot more than FFC and SMFC were broke in the 80's ..Footscray, NMFC , Melbourne even Collingwood and Hawthorn had problems,

The WAFL is not dead due to Subi's dominance, its dead because most people follow AFL now.

And only because less people care about WAFL these days are Subiaco getting away with it.

Attendances tended to drop when the same club has a run. But if you really think people have dumped WAFL for AFL is because of Subi your deluded.

George may have Won a Flag, but he left the Lions with a Sour Taste in his Mouth, having busted his Arse for Schoey and Co.Having now done the same with Old Easts and gotten nowhere, can't help feeling he might have regretted leaving Subi Doobie and may consider heading back, going from a 6th placed Club to a Multiple Premier.

Just a theory but,......

My mail is that George wasn't particularly liked and had a different view of his worth to the club than Schoey and the other coaches had. I don't think he'll be back to Subi any time soon.

Have a look at the GF attendances during SDFCs last hat trick, crowds at each GF got progressively smaller each year. And never picked up again until SD left the GF scene.

Yeah clearly remember that - was a big deal for the time and especially for a small club like Subi, which had amassed a lot of debt, by 1986 most WAFL clubs were insolvent bar Subi. Ironic really considering the Save Subi Campaign.

In hindsight the WAFL probably should of consolidated around that time merged a couple of clubs, Subi and Claremont being one option that was talked about a lot early to mid 80s.

Had the WAFL shown more foresight and strengthened its financial position, all the clubs would of been ablse to resist the clearance dough offered by the VFL and SANFL that drained the comp of talent, the clubs increasingly desperate for really what were pathetic amounts, the flow of players became a flood, a perfect storm unfolded and before we knew it the VFL had sucked us into the expanded comp at a rip off deal that sealed the fate of WAFl for ever, folly became disaster with the dockers, peel and we ended with the train wreck we have now.

It's more likely that people walked away after the Swans salary cap and drug cheating scandals, they really damaged the leagues reputation and integrity.

Bazza wrote: Why limit it to the last 12 years, Subi have had rivers of gold from Subi oval sinmce the Eagles started in 1987. so since the advent of the Eagles Claremont have won 7 and Subi 7 after that's its pretty even WP 4 EF and SF 3 EP 3 SD 2 , you could argue Claremont have dominated as well.

Periods of domination are not unknown in WAFL history without Subis cash. SF won 6 out of 8 1947 to 1954 EP won 7 out of 9 1919-1927 ..

And how do you explain Subis premiership drought from 1988 to 2004?

1988 - finsihed on top and premiers
1989 - 6th
1990 - 7th
1991 - finished 2nd and runner up
1992 - 4th
1993 - 5th (top 5 then)
1994 - 4th
1995 - 1st and runner up
1996 - last shock horror what happened there?
1997 - 7th
1998 - 3rd - doesn't take long to bounce back
1999 - 3rd
2000 - 2nd
2001 - 4th (still playing finals)
2002 - 2nd
2003 - 1st - runner up
2004 - 1st - premiers

So lets see between 1988 and 2004 that's 14 finals appearances out of 17, 2 premierships and 3 times runner up. And your point was Bazza?

That is a period of success any club would take in a heart beat. Surely you are not suggesting this was a baron period for Subiaco?
Get on your bike.

Whata the significance of the year 2000 Swan 42?

No secret Western Suburbs have done well since AFL...apart from that it looks pretty even bar EP's Eagle run.

Where are Claremont getting the brown paper bags from?
