What sort of mind altering substance are you on..it would never work or happen and do more damage to the wafl..

1. Two entire teams would be based in Victoria for an entire season and more , all the players , top ups support coaches the lot, accommodation etc,, moving their families and kids if they have them, even if they don't want to move, playing all games week in week out in Vic..no one will fly backwards and forwards every 5 or 6 days..
2. All the players fringe and all the extra top ups would be sucked out of the WAFL, further reducing the talent pool to virtually Amatuer status..
3. All the Alignment cash would disappear over night..how would clubs go without that? Broke within a year or two,
4. Crowds would drop with the lack of talent on show, clubs would have less cash to spend on recruits with no alignment cash.
5. Developments like Eagle Park at Lathlain would be pointless as half of the squad would be based in Victoria all season.
6. And the last thing you seem to think its bad having them based here, and wrecking the local comp, but have no hesitation pushing the problem somewhere else and into another local comp. What would be the impact on the VFL having two extra AFL sides playing, Oh yeah maybe more imbalance and screw them over, not a problem, out of our hair, dump the problem in Port Melbourne, Williamstown etc lap let them go bust instead. Out of sight out of mind hey! No wonder Perths in a mess with numpties like you running the show.

The best solution I can see is spreading the players among the clubs as before. But there is no way the two monsters want that so we are stuck with this , so I would prefer to see some consolidation make Peel a full blown reserves side , the same with the eagles, put it out there to all clubs that an option is available for them to take up a reserve option, and leave it to the clubs to make offers, 1 or 2 will take it up. drop the charade and make them reserves side in all regards.

Get as much out of the two afls sides as compensation as possible for the remaining clubs.

That leaves us with making the remaining clubs as viable and as powerful as we can, get rid of the bye, Offer a $1 Million minimum cash incentive each to any two clubs willing to merge and form 1 club.

The Subi cash stream is gone soon, do an audit on all clubs give assistance packages to those that need it and nothing to those that don't.

Ideally , sell the two AFL licences back to the AFL - get 50 Mill as a capital base, disolve the WAFC.

Do a deal with the WACA as a new base. Have no involvement with the new stadium.

i went to the first VFL (AFL) of the Eagles and if IIRC correctly after match a WAFL game between EP v WP was played. One week into a new era 15 minutes after the Eagles game had finished there was a mass exodus out of Subiaco, and a sparse crowd stayed and watched the WAFL match.

Straight away then I knew the WAFL was in trouble, with a WA side in VFL.

Yep Kirbs, I clearly remember that game, people had already decided the WAFL era was over, even in 1986 it was headed that way the GF was poorly attended compared to just 5 years earlier - they experimented a bit, I think they tried curtin raisers as well for WAFL, nothing worked.

Who much per year would the WAFC put into Peel?

Baz that's the old debate again.The Afl brand is to dominate in the market place.The sale of the local Afl clubs will deliver a lot of money to the comission.At that point we have to consider a night time Summer A League comp.Does Wa footy own the Afl liciences or the comission a state government department.
Alignment mkii hasnt delivered the Alignment a flag yet.As stated in other posts Peel just scraped into the finals and Ep went out in the 1st week.Unless big changes are made nothing will change with Wafl footy.Channel 7 are trying there best to improve the telecast.
South Freo and Subi good Wafl sides have beaten up both Peel and Ep this year.Granted the Peel your up against this week is a far stronger team.

So did I,Kirbs.The Eagles Lost me there and then.It's why I never supported them,when I could have started a new chapter in my VFL/AFL Interests.
