Last years format was far better, week before or week after the most important thing is to get it back to a traditional Saturday arvo or better still a twighlight game. Sundays sucked.

I much preferred the later AFL GF start as well.

What worries me is how they said they are "thinking" of holding the wafl gf the week after the AFL gf on the Saturday arvo. We've all been saying for years and years that's how it should be and hey presto we get that (due to covid) and surprise surprise we get 30 thousand to a pretty predictable grand final match up. The cynic in me says that the AFL factions on the WAFC will go "jeez we don't want the WAFL getting media and public attention, let's go back to a Sunday arvo AFL preliminary final weekend WAFL grand final where we can go back to crowds of 20 thousand"
Spot on TOO, how long have most of us on here been banging on about moving the WAFL Grand Final to the week after the AFL GF where it would have free air and space with no afl competition to deal with like the SANFL did for years with great success?!
But the good ol WAFC have kowtowed to their masters at the Vic HQ for years now in that the afl was to be the final game of footy each year (which is bullshit anyway as many country leagues, SANFL etc have their GF after the afl).
Finally due to covid we finally did it this season and drew 30k to what was always going to be another easy win for Subi who are not even one of the biggest supported clubs, so god knows how many would turn out for a GF with bigger supported WAFL clubs?

Beas,
I think with Perth playing in the reserves and Swans in the colts probably added another 5,000 to the total this year.

You have to wonder why the premier sport in WA (and other states), is not played at the best available venue.  Total lack of respect.  Sometimes money isn’t everything in sport.

Does anyone know when next years fixtures will be released? Prior to COVID they would be in the paper the weekend before Christmas but I think they were a bit later last year.

Most of the Perth crew made a B Line for the gate after the game, fair enough as well, playing reserves so early makes for a long day to delay celebrations and the GF was never going to be a cliff hanger. One thing they should do is play colts first as per tradition.

That' too early for the AFL Talent Scouts Baz.
