Tbh it might be the best thing for you DD. Sure you might lose a few diehards as ep did but alot more would come out of the woodwork if it gave you a bit of success. Hell we might even see the return of the ranga nutter

DD how will doing an EP fix your zone, will it be like Peel where they struggle to field a reserves team through lack of interest of colts continuing, do you think it will attract more boys to the development process, how will it benefit the zone?
Your club was smart Grump. When you had issues with your zones, I recall struggling to field reserves and colts teams, your club aligned with the Eagles. Saved Bronte a heap of money and put 1.5 + mill in the bank while you went to work on the commission to strike a better deal with your zones.

You are well set up now to join the big 4 and play regular finals in the decades ahead. I noticed a heap of kids from Caversham on our list over the weekend. Swans mustn’t have been able to accomodate them, surplus to their needs. That gets handed over to you next year along with Averley. You’ve got the north eastern growth area sewn up, well done.

We need to get smarter and wake up and smell the roses. Doing it the honest way just isn’t going to cut it. If the WAFC don’t give us what we need and want to continue to deliberately hold us back then I’m happy for us to align with the Eagles and if we do we will be powerful and successful and I’ll take it without a hint of shame.

When everyone is sick of us winning fake flags then maybe people will come to their senses.
Where have you heard this DD?
If Averley (after starting up then losing Ellenbrook) & especially Caversham which is located less than 5km from Bassendean Oval are removed from Swans zone there will be hell to pay!

Why would you take junior clubs off Swans who have won 1 Premiership (by a whole 1 point I might add) in the last 30 years to give to EP who aligned twice and won 3 flags in the last 21 years and not take them off their Western neighbours CL or SU who have dominated both League and Colts for so long???????????
I would not like to see EP take any districts away from SD, we have our own issues but why would you exacerbate Swans issues by doing that!

Yes there needs to be some fixing but it has to be beneficial not done as has been in the past based on whimsey

I won't reveal the source BH but take it to the bank. Maybe you are getting or already got 3 other new growth areas in that corridor being Brabham, Dayton and Henley Brook? What new growth areas does Perth have? Nothing.

I reckon there would be 500 - 1000 new homes built in WP's zone per year at least and that goes for the southern corridor too that SF and possibly EF have a mortgage on. Everything south of Canningvale either side of the Mandurah rail line and up to Byford.

The talk I hear is we are going to get handed two more crime riddled areas Kelmscott and Armadale which have been our s traditionally anyway. Take a look at SF's list and tell me how many players in their 3 grades are from Kelmscott and Armadale? Last I looked 3, and one of them is ex perth player Cody Ninyette.

I'm honestly leaning that way DG. I am sick of this shit and something has to give. Now talk about problems with the new facilities turning into a shit fight and will probably be delayed. Colts getting smashed week in week out by around 100 points. Until these issues get sorted out I think it will be a smart move to go into an alignment with the Eagles that we have seen EP and Peel benefit from enormously financially and we have a pretty strong core of experienced players so a Perth/Eagles aligned team will be very strong I believe.

I reckon it will take 5 years to sort out our zone and facilities problems and by then we will bank 1.5 to 2 million and hopefully have nice new facilities and some new growth areas and see our colts start improving and then go back alone. I know the skeptics say it won't be an alignment it will be a take over but that is nonsense, we call the shots. Claremont and South have done it.

I am still none the wiser who this ranga is you keep referring to. Must have been around when I wasn't. Oh hang on, it isn't a sheila is it? I know who that would be.

BH agree that Subi have been the dominant league team since 2000 but certainly not at colts level.
Since 2000,
CL 5 colts flags
SF 4
SD & EF 3
EP, Peel & SU 2
P & WP 0
Perths last colts flag was 1999.

Cl & Souths have won nearly half in that period, so perhaps it's their zones that are the ones to look at for some redistribution.

WP lack of colts success is an interesting one given their vastly populated northern zone since the mid-late 90's.

People bang on in here about how fantastic and fast growing the WP zone is etc, but they are up against a strong soccer culture up there.
Our colts last won a flag back in 1990 when the club was still in leederville , worst out of all clubs, and our country zone is poor.

DD, I have made my own views on an alignment clear, but it's up to individuals to decide how they react in terms of their continued support for the club. However, I rather doubt it would be as simple as saying "align for 5 years, take the cash and rebuild." I think the Eagles will learn from what happened with EP, and from their reserves team suffering heavy losses. That is, they may regard a stand alone reserves as a failure and that the preferred model is an alignment. They said already that they can't have their players being dragged down by second rate amateurs. Therefore, I think they would ensure that any future alignment is long term, if not permanent.

TT....stop taking the piss mate.....PFC has more poverty, crime, ethnic diversity, HJ and  KFC then both SD & EP zones combined....haven't you been reading the Perth boys posts.....
They also have some of the wealthiest cashed up areas in the city as well as two outstanding Football Colleges, areas like South Perth, Como, Manning, Kensington, aren't poor, and Wesley, Trinity and Aquinas are as good as CCG and Scotch.
A far lower percentage of students that attend Trinity and Aquinas would be domiciled in the Perth zone compared to the percentage of students domiciled in the Claremont area who attend the PSA schools within the Claremont zone.
Sound like there's always an excuse for Perth, if its not the fact rich areas are like South Perth  gentrified its the fact the poor areas aren't and cant afford to send the kids to Aquinas, I'll have you know Aquinas have a large number of Aboriginal boys there that are on scholarships from all over the poorer areas,  also I have also noticed over the year a large number of Perth recruits come from Trinity/Aquinas.

Claremont have a lot of PSA schools yeah sure, how many do SFFC have? bugger all. Perth defo have the advantage over SFFC in that regard.

I'm not sure playing around with zones is the panacea to Perth's problems. Case in point, my young bloke played juniors at Melville footy club and also for Aquinas. By the time he got to year 12 about 8 of his mates were down at East Freo playing colts. Fast forward 5 years one is playing for North Melbourne and only one other is still at East Freo playing ressies with all the rest either pulling the pin completely or playing ammos. So yes I agree having a productive zone helps build success but it's what you do with the kids coming through that is the most important thing.

Pretty much sums it up, and lets be honest the one still hanging in at the mcgoos at effc wont be there much longer.

The budget doesn't lie. Just take your pick any week and see Perth lists are from all over the place, just about as many blow ins as there are locals and 200cm players are as rare as rocking horse shit.

Now if Perth aren't working their zones hard enough and not identifying these talents then they would be showing up at other clubs. Where are they? How many Perth boys from our districts do you find on other WAFL clubs lists? Fuck all.
