STT  considering Perth zone has produced multiple AFL draftees of late, that's all the commission is going to see mate unfortunately. I know that shouldn't be the benchmark, but sadly in this AFL influenced footy world.... it is.

Is the problem the zone or Perth’s engagement with the zone?

There was some pretty large criticism of Perth’s engagement with their Junior clubs at the WAFC Inquiry.

Considering Perth's Futures are sitting pretty in 3rd possie on the ladder with a 4/1 win loss tally, not sure the commission are going to be sympathetic to your Jesus tears STT....does the problem lie in the transition from Futures into colts into seniors?...if so, then surely that's a club issue not a zone issue....well that's what the commission will think....especially  with all Perth's  recent AFL draftees and a competitive  Futures side.....

TT thanks for engaging on the subject but that is an old WAFC line they gets trotted out and swallowed by some.

PFC is much like other wafl clubs, same kind of people involved etc etc. We engage with the zone in same way every other wafl club does.

It’s not the club mate, it’s the zone.
Interesting response given that the criticism of Perths junior engagement at the WAFC Inquiry was discussed by a Junior Club President in the Perth District and Perth Board Member. Similar feedback has been provided on this forum by ammo clubs in the Perth District.

But I guess it’s easier to blame the zone and the WAFC rather than looking internally and asking why your talented juniors aren’t transferring into Colts and seniors.

freezin in what way do AFL draftees help a WAFL club?   Notwithstanding it is hard to judge the relative strength of colts' teams so early in the season, how should the WAFC react to the result of the Perth colts from yesterday?

Also, what is the incentive for a WAFL club to help develop junior clubs within a WAFL club's zone given the WAFC can arbitrarily remove that junior club from that WAFL club's zone?

42 not sure where I said AFL draftees "help"  their respective WAFL clubs, just highlighted that a probable benchmark  for KPI on zone productivity for the AFL influenced WAFL commission would be number of AFL draftees from each WAFL club....which Perth has had recently....and surely  performances of a club's Futures squad would be taken into consideration..though understand completely that can change hugely from one year to the next.....but who's to say the commission know that.....you SD fans have complained bitterly about inequality of your zones for years, yet the club continues to have youngsters drafted and a successful Futures program transitioning into colts.....surely that must be reasoning why the commission does nothing in addressing your SD fans zone concerns.....can't think of any other....can you?

Before the zone is looked at/fixed how about getting a decent sized working scoreboard, a time clock & a wind sock (not too mention fixing that sand pit at the NE end).....maybe when all of those essentials are provided for WAFL supporters at Lathlain (Eagle) Park then they can have a look at the zone!
For at least 4-5 seasons now since the Eagles have taken over the place and the old (great) scoreboard was demolished it has been amateur hour at the ground for our games with no scoreboard (or decent one at the very least), time clock or wind sock....bloody not good enough!

Perth FC's website shows that they have 12 Senior Community Clubs (I note that Queens Park FC is not listed) and 12 Junior Clubs in their district.

The President of South Perth JFC tells the Parliamentary Inquiry that he hasn't seen anyone from Perth FC in 5 or 6 years - and he's been on Perth FC Board for 18 months.

In my Senior Community Club, this is the sum total of any contact from Perth FC in the past 10 years:
1. About 7 years ago, an invite to a President's Lunch. I was asked to go because 'It's a waste of f@#$%&g time'. It was.
2. About 6 years ago, an invite to the District AGM.
3. About 3 years ago, a visit from PERTH FC to assess a Coach for Level 2.
4. 1 or 2 weeks later, a visit to look at junior female players who train at our ground on behalf of Perth Angels.
5. We hosted  2 sets of 'Futures' games because Lathlain was unavailable. The (then) CEO attended one of them and didn't even have the courtesy to come and speak to any of us!!!
6. We hosted a couple of pre-season games (Lathlain unavailable) maybe 5 years ago.
7 Maybe 4 years ago, we were asked to change our fixtures and make our oval available for a couple of PFC home games as Lathlain may not have been ready in time (it was).
8. A general (Members?) email sent every couple of weeks.

Please tell us all again how much Perth FC does in their District!!!!!

What you get out of something is directly proportional to what you put in - when you put all but nothing in, you get all but nothing back.

How about your each Directors are given 2 or 3 Community Clubs each to visit 2 or 3 times per year (game day, training night, pre-season, Committee Meeting - you choose which) and report back to your Committee Meeting monthly on who they went to.

We don't need or want your money - it's not about that.

It's about showing just a little respect to the Clubs you NEED players to come from.

A post from the Perth District Zone coal face.....geez that's pretty piss poor IF true mate.....I say IF, because whilst I believe your post is no doubt 100% true mate.....I have a feeling some of these  Oz Footy Perth boys, who probably haven't even set foot in a community footy club within their beloved Demons zone, will dispute what you are saying Birdman.....surely that's not how Bobby runs his ship?

Be interested in hearing from other posters who coach or have coached juniors/seniors/country within a WAFL clubs zone, what involvement/interaction/engagement they had/have with that WAFL club overseeing that zone.....hopefully Birdman's post isn't the tip of the iceberg.....because in all honesty the WAFL and the clubs need to be as proactive as possible within their community especially in this day n age of AFL footy.
