Marmion looks gone in Nedlands , 65% counted still a few hundred behind 2PP, Greens prefs doing it for ALP.
We have preferential voting in Western Australia.  It is a complete nonsense to complain about Greens preferences flowing to Labor candidates.   Where did DLP preferences go in previous elections in Australia?

From the latest figures it looks like Labor will have 51 of 59 seats.  A stunning result by any measure.

Get a life I mean seriously, I'm pointing out exactly whats happening.
Apart from candidates that achieve 50% + 1 vote require distribution of preferences to be elected.  It is patent nonsense to single out that Labor candidates are being elected from Green preferences.  That is how preferential voting works.

Gee Swan your are a bigger sook than Trump, your side has a big win and still moaning - learnt nothing after your self imposed exile, as BC says.

I have no intentions of letting the base hypocrisy complaining about Greens preferences going to Labor go unchallenged.

I suspect that the federal liberals are a little worried abt WA given that now that the strumpet has also come out and said they did the heavy lifting in WA. The only heavy lifting she would ever do is the hairspray on her head!

The people who voted Labor for the first time in this election might choose to vote Labor in the upcoming federal election.  If that does occur there will be a number of federal Liberal seats here in WA that may go to Labor and should improve significantly Labor's showing in the Senate election.  I would also suspect that it makes a 2021 federal election less likely now.

It will be interesting to see how much time Morrison will spend in WA up to the federal election.

Maybe that's McGoos next thing to tick off the Things to Do list after reinstating John McKechnie as boss of the CCC. Voting reform.

Was it Zak Titsup who voted against the reappointment of McKechnie or was that just a Liberal Party stunt to avoid their own being investigated? And was it Titsup who kept parliament up all night into the wee small hours of the morning when McGoo was trying to get legislation through to block Clive Palmer from suing the state?

From Antony Green's blog ( Antony Green's Election Blog – Musings on Elections and Politics ):

(Times given are Sydney time)

1:10pm – Unfortunately I have to be elsewhere for 2 hours. In my absence, I expect the ABC Election Computer to give away Warren-Blackwood when it gets a preference count update. The first preferences entered today favour Labor. I expect the Liberal lead in Churchlands to disappear and that Nedlands may be given away as well.

12:25pm – More first preference Absents added for Churchlands and Warren-Blackwood. When the preference count comes in, both will lean Labor’s way. Extra Absents for North West Central also slightly narrow National lead in North West Central

Swannie I think Morrison is a dead man walking and so is his party. Even Jenny can't save him now. Two of his senior Ministers are walking the plank. In your opinion will Albo lead Labor come the next election which I am tipping will be called early, possibly this year. Or will Jim Chalmers take the reigns who is being groomed as a future PM or is there a strong push for a woman Prime Minister in the wake of these sex scandals and a perception that parliament house is rampant with predators and bullies?

In that case would Tanya Plibisek be the logical choice and could she handle the job or is there another female in the ranks with the credentials? Or will they pull Julia Gillard off her speaking tours and back into politics? I mean she earned a reputation for standing up to the blokes.

DD let me answer the easiest question first.  I think I have about the same chance of becoming leader of federal Labor as Julia Gillard.  I don't think Gillard has any desire to get back into politics.  I think on balance Albanese will remain as leader of Labor at the time of the next federal election.

Of course I don't think that Labor's performance in the state election will be replicated in the federal election.  However, I do think that Labor's performance here will be significant better and in conjunction with the redistribution the Liberals will have a nett loss here of 3-5 seats.

The key as it was in 2019 will be Queensland.   A significantly better showing there by Labor will  result in a change of government.  One would expect that Palmer will be a dud there and things like Adani will not be a significant factor either.  States like SA and Tassie will probably maintain the status quo there.

I believe that Victoria requires a redistribution as well and such a redistribution may not be to the Liberal's advantage this redistribution cycle.  NSW is difficult to gauge from here but probably keeps the status quo there.

In summary, if there is a swing to Labor in Queensland, WA may well be in play when our polls close.  My money would be on a first quarter 2022 federal election.
