Thereabouts I reckon 42....maybe one less depending on the redistribution as you say. We'll all be vaccinated by then so Covid won't be as front and centre as it is currently...the Porter/Linda Reynolds debacles will be a distant memory, Mr McGoo will have had 12 months to actually govern and achieve stuff, and the Libs federally will have the big advantage of having Albo as leader of the opposition during the election campaign unless Labor pulls the rug out from under him.

The other thing I find interesting is that WA has it's borders open to all states for the first time in almost 12 months even though there's new cases in Q'land and NSW...it could be just a coincidence but before the election the border would have slammed shut in an instant but now post election, it's all very relaxed....go figure.

I am not sure what your point is re McGowan's parents not staying in WA given their ages.  With respect to some trying to use the fact that McGowan was not born in WA against him was just plain stupid and shows a complete ignorance of the WA psyche.
42 I think it shows their undoubted intellect when the likes of McGowan who were not born in God's Own Country (WA) make it their home in adulthood!

Whilst I suspect you might be grinning like a punter who backed both the early & late quaddie on the weekend....with the WA Liberal Party looking like a Bangladeshi train wreck at the minute!

BH and others I reckon that anyone who comes here (he was posted here in the Navy) and stays is a fairly bright person. My only doubt was - Rockingham- never seen him in trackies and uggies but closed doors may tell a different tale!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

So there is absolutely no ambiguity I do not have a problem with people who were not born in Western Australia making WA home and being called sandgropers.  It is not me who has that problem, it is the likes of Paul Murray (Sky News Australia) who thought he could score political points by saying that McGowan wasn't born in WA.

With respect to the election result on Saturday, I am very happy with the result.  In fact the result was beyond my, and indeed any Labor Party supporter, wildest dreams that the likes of Nedlands, South Perth, Churchlands could be even in contention is absolutely stunning.

PS.  The Liberals have edged slightly ahead in Churchlands.

One silver lining was to see the Greens all but wiped out, 4 down to 1 - the down side is the one and only MP they will have is that prawn Pettit, the bonus is hus F's off as Mayor of Fremantle.

WAxit did poorly, but I guess Labor had the stick it up Canberra bit covered.

If Morrison is such a benefit to the Liberals why didn't Morrison visit WA during the election campaign to assist a relative newcomer, Kirkup, as the leader of the WA Liberal Party?

Swan42,Bazza, it is true that Menzies  and Sir Charlie would not have underrstood  the Libs at this election. People in the east need  to recall that  the  'Brisbane line' was real.

Imagine him seeing Nedlands turn Labor - unbeleivable a bit like Fremantle going Liberal, in fact Fremantle is going more rabid left, the ALP had its smallest gain there and the greens the only place they picked up a swing, I just don't get my home town anymore.

Turned out worse than I expected but not much, as predicted Labor will have total control top to bottom Upper and Lower houses with virtually no opposition to speak of, the importance of a strong and effective opposition cannot be emphasized more than ever.

The role of the media will now be under the microscope, with the stokes monopoly well and truly up the clacker of McGowan, the ABC a virtual ALP propaganda machine, that leaves just Nine/WAtoday/6pr as the only real hope of holding the government to account for at least the next 8 years.

Absolute power breeds absolute corruption.

Now to the Libs, I put the blame well and truly at the feet of Liza Harvey and the damage she did in calling for the borders to be open.

How could the great party of Sir Charles Court the most powerful WA first States rights party end up being the pro Federal party, WA Conservatives have always been about States rights, and saying get stuffed to Canberra , it didnt matter if Whitlam Fraser Hawke of Keating WA always came first.
They need to get back to the party of Court, WA first, Mining development and telling Canberra to get stuffed. Weirdly State labor did a back flip a long tradition of central power - they saw some fertile ground in grabbing the parochial WA vote.

Anyway its good to be int= the ONE and only Liberal held seat in the City, Cottesloe will continue to be the beacon of freedom and liberty to those trapped behind the iron curtin, a bit like West Berlin. :)
It has been frankly amusing, bemusing and confusing to watch eastern states's journalists and Liberal politicians who have railed against states closing their borders given the Liberal Party politicians of years gone by lauding the rights of states.  Also, it is stunning how little some know about West Aussies.

With respect to where the blame lies, certainly Harvey opposing the Labor government's action did not go down well.  However, let's not forget that the Morrison government actively supported Palmer's High Court action.  Further given the dominance federally the Liberals have been in WA it is inconceivable that a Liberal PM would not visit WA during a state election.  Gareth Porter noted that Morrison has not conducted a radio interview with WA journos since August of last year.

With respect to the federal implications I would project that the Liberals will have a nett loss of 4 to 5 seats here in WA (including 1 due to the redistribution).
Predict whatever you like Swanny my boy, but with Albo as leader Labor ain't going to make big roads in WA or anywhere else for that matter.  Labor needs to give him the flick now and install someone who's a bit more Prime Minister material.

Federal elections an entirely different matter, 2017 Sneakers had a massive win and then they flopped Federally, nothing changed,

And with Albo staggering along just cannot see anything changing. A massive orchestrated personal attacked on Porter lead by the taxpayer fiunded ABC could well be enough to cook him I suppose.

One further point I will make following on from the WA state election, Morrison continues to be tone deaf with respect to his responses to the claims of sexual abuse and violence against women.  After question time in the House of Reps today, Albanese moved a motion to suspend standing orders to allow a debate on this.  After a few minutes of speaking Dutton moved that he no longer be heard.  An absolutely despicable and gutless action especially in the context of how many times Abbott moved similar motions and not once to my knowledge was he gagged by the Labor government.

You mean the psyche that hates Vics and Tuthersiders....perhaps he has more of a grip than you think.
