It'll be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming state election. Obviously Labor will win in a canter given its performance during Covid and the Libs are in disarray but it does beg the question on what else this government has achieved over the last 4 years. The covid success was driven in large by our geographical isolation, a willingness but McGowan and Cook to make some hard decisions and a leg up by the Feds with Jobkeeper and Jobseeker but when you look outside that at the record ambulance ramping, the number of homeless on the streets, state debt continuing to climb despite unparalleled iron ore royalties and GST returns...you really start to wonder just how well this government would have performed during normal times as I'm not seeing wholesale improvements in areas such as health, education, law and order and so on.

Most of what you say is quite right, not much to judge by other than the Virus performance.

Having said that Sneakers and Mr Earp did say the debt would increase this year but would be paid down from the next budget.

Yes they are or have finished off a fair few of the previous regimes projects but it would seem that they have done it without the issues that did beset the LNP such as the kids hospital ones and others.

I would think it harsh to judge any government one this years performance including Gladie and Anastasia, even Dan, they have all had years that none of them were built for or prepared for!

The saving grace for markie Mark is that the Libs and the Nationals are at each others throats and that really doesn't bode well for us as we will not have an opposition worth a pinch for quite a few years to come!

Hopefully the coalition gets it's shit together to provide strong opposition because McGowan has become very cocky and arrogant with these polls going to his head.

And I don't like moves by Labor to make permanent changes to the Beeliar wetlands that would make it impossible for an opposition government to complete Roe 8 and 9. Clearly power has gone to McGowan's noggin along with Saffioti who seems to have turned into McGowan's attack dog who loves to attack opposition leaders.

She can't even do her job properly ole 1 metre Rita.

Yes apart from McGowan, Wyatt, Cook and maybe Papalia there's some pretty ordinary performers in Cabinet. Alannah looks like she's permanently on the piss, Ellery couldn't get out of her own way and is prone to stuff ups in the Education port folio, McGurk has overseen a Dept of Communities riddled with corruption, has let down the most vulnerable in terms of housing in the city and infrastructure in the bush, Quiggers lives in a parallel universe to the rest of us and Saffioti is just a permanent picture opportunist. If we had a decent opposition, then this election could be a lot closer than it looks but alas, that's not to be this time around at least.

The trouble we have as a state is that what personnel have the opposition got to offer against the ALP. Their cupboard is even more bare when you look at the leader they have, if that is the best they can come up with hades help us!

They really need to start up a recruitment process that looks in schools, Uni and business and stop the religious right from controlling their stocks and get folk who can do what the job is! Saying that the Labour party needs to get its head out of the ACTU et al and do the same or their relevance in the new world will also be lost!

Agreed Grump. It's a long way back for the Libs who look like losing more seats in March. The opposition benches will be pretty much empty but what it does provide is an opportunity to reset the party from top to bottom. Get rid of the old time puppeteers like Collier et al and bring in some new blood who can resonate with the younger generation. You'd think Christian Porter is on thin ice in Pearce so maybe a drop back to state politics as an interim leader of the opposition given his experience and high profile might kick start things until they can get re-established.

Apart from Covid the biggest thing sneakers has going for him is a piss weak and I mean pathetic opposition. Since Barney left they have been lost .
Take Covid away and the gloss fades. Health and Education are struggling, the housing market is weak with Perth prices now lower than Hobart, the much vaunted infrastructure programme is yet to materialise and looks like a set of LEGO blocks compared to what Barnett got done, debt continues to rise with little
To show for it, but the big thing for me has been
The slug to housefhold costs car regos power gas water admission prices it’s gone through the roof.

As for the Ministry Saffitoti Is so half wit bogan that mouths off apart from that she gets photos at road and rail openings but she’s low on substance and class.
Alana is a fossil hardly seen now picking up pay for being half pissed.
Quiggers is an out and out weirdo
As for the opposition Bill Marmion what does he do ?
And then they get some wacko G5 conspiracy theories bird

Sneaker will win this easy I predict picking up a few extra seats as well, meaning it’s unlikely there will be a state liberal gov for another two
Terms at least.

Perth house prices are tipped to rise faster than any other city in Australia in 2021 on the back of the lowest vacancy rate in over a decade. Been said recently rents have increased an average 20%. I live in a group of four, my neighbour recently vacated and the asking price has gone up $45 p/w and I’m tipping they will get offered more. People are flooding into WA like the last boom for the mining jobs and WA’s ability to keep out Covid.

We are still miles behind the rest of Australia,

Sydney and Melbourne are about double ave prices here.
Brisbane about 100K more on average.
Even Adelaide and Hobart now have higher average prices.
Only place lower in Darwin.
really feel for people that have to sell up and relocate to the East - you are rooted.

Maybe so but that is just market forces at work. We can't help it if most people gravitate to the east coast.
