Incorrect.Hawthorn won the 2013 Afl grand final and Box Hill Hawks won the 2013 vfl grand final

So Hawthorn had an aligned club in Box Hill and they both won flags. My above statement is still correct.
Go home Chaddy, you're drunk!

Port Adelaide 2004?
Hardly surprising considering most of the AFL teams bar the WA (*99-02-13-)/SA teams have had an alignment side since then!

Hardly surprising then that the WA AFL clubs want follow a model that the rest of the competition uses and seems the most successful!

Quite the opposite: 18 - 2 = 16. 15 FAILURES with a host club alignment. I would have thought that would be a pretty poor success rate.

Only one team wins the flag with 17 other clubs failing every year. Using your own logic Swan, no model, whether it be a stand alone team, an alignment model or the old VFL Ressies and Colts model could ever be considered successful.

Take your WAFL blinkers off and have a look how other elite level team sports around the world set up their second tier competions.

Me take my blinkers off. How about you take your blinkers off. The AFL has clearly and demonstrably destroyed the Tassie footy leagues. It has destroyed the VFA. 500 people attended a state game between the VFL and WAFL. 500 people. The VFL team had no state uniform.

Now the AFL wants to destroy the WAFL aided and abetted by the WAFC.

The last bastion to fall to the AFL will be the SANFL.

As to no system succeeding; what the proposed takeover of the AFL of the WAFL WILL DESTROY THE WAFL. And no I will never support such a move or aim.

Well off the mark there BH. I'm a big supporter of the WAFL and have been since the 70s but I also recognise that the WAFL exists as part of a larger football industry.

You, Swan, Grassy etc keep offering up the same solution to get rid of the alignment and that will fix the WAFL but can't recognise that this outcome is unachievable and if it was to happen it would certainly lead to the demise of the WAFL. Instead of being stuck in the past and continually whinging about how much better the WAFL used to be, how about you talk about realistic ways clubs can improve interest in the WAFL.

The WAFL needs to reinvent itself and probably needs to go backwards before it can move forward again. Not one club is currently financially self sustaining and they haven't been for a long time. All clubs continue to recruit high priced interstate recruits at the expense of developing their own local talent. The player points system has failed to control clubs rorting the salary cap or creating a more even competition.

The WAFL needs to be modernised, not stuck in the past.

Very predictable response Grassy - keep blaming the AFL and the WAFC for any and every thing that has failed with the WAFL.

How many commissioners, GM/CEOs and staff has the WAFC had over the last 30+ years and you believe that none of these people are 'real football' people that have tried to act in the best interests of the game in WA. That's the whole of WA Football from Auskick, Juniors, Country, Amateurs, Women's, Masters, WAFL, State and AFL. Who would you like to take their place?

The WAFL clubs need to take responsibility for the position that they find themselves in. They have been complicit to the process since 1986 and continue to be every time that they take the annual WAFC funding, try to out bid each other for recruits services, allowed an alignment model, agreed to an ineffective player points system, allowed up to 15 AFL listed players to represent the host clubs in finals etc.

The clubs and the boards which represent the clubs members are firmly to blame for where the competition is currently at. As club members we will not directly influence the AFL or the WAFC but we can influence the attitudes or composition of our own clubs boards directly that if all of the clubs are willing to work together can then influence the WAFC.

Where does one start TT? Let's start at the colts. What the WAFC wants to do is to exorcise the colts' teams from the WAFL clubs. And the reason for that? So they say to the AFL we have done your bidding so please let us have some more money. What will be the result of this? The extinction of the WAFL.

No WAFL club supports the removal of their colts' team from their club.

One needs to be particularly perverse to think that WAFL clubs receiving a dividend from the two WA domiciled AFL is inherently wrong. In fact I don't think it is necessary to say why it is so perverse.

With respect to your challenge about the commissioners et al not being "real football" people, I will cite one example. Gary Walton had an interview that was published in the Sunday Times. I refuted some of his claims in an email to him He responded to my email. Both my email and his were posted on the forerunner to this site. The unexpurgated versions of both. What did G Walton do through the WAFL lawyers? The owner(s) of the previous site were pressured to remove his OWN VIEWS from the site. In other words the WAFL supporters were not allowed to be privy to his own words and thoughts about the WAFL competition.

In terms of who I want to take their place, it is very simple. I want people who are willing to stand up for WA football. Ones not totally subservient to the AFL. So far the AFL has destroyed Tassie footy; the VFA and are now in the process of destroying the WAFL.

As for your assertion that the WAFL clubs and I quote :allowed an alignment model" that is patently UNTRUE. Two clubs agreed to a host club alignment AGAINST the wishes of the majority of the WAFL clubs. I could go on. Instead I challenge you to provide 3-5 things that the WAFL clubs should do. Specific things not generalisations.

well said 42...and for TT to lay the blame for the current situation on the WAFL clubs themselves is nonsense. the WAFC is the governing body and has carriage for the direction of state level footy in WA. the current predicament is totally, completely and utterly the result of decisions made by the WAFC in pandering to the 2 AFL clubs. they will do whatever it takes and at any cost to ensure the Dockers and Eagles get what they want even to the detriment of the local competition. I have nothing but disdain for the WAFC and what it has done to the WAFL over the years.

While I sympathise with most of what you say BC, it doesn't help when you get WAFL Clubs continuously flogging the comp with self inflicted wounds, i.e. voting for the entry of Peel, voting for the entry of the dockers, offering themselves up to be aligned clubs, I mean one really has to wonder. there always seems to be a strong element within the WAFL clubs that end up dancing to the merry tune.

Corollary to the host club alignment and the all-pervasive Victorian Parasite League:

Tassie footy DESTROYED

VFL(VFA) DESTROYED

WAFL Currently in the process of being DESTROYED

SANFL Final target of the VPL to be DESTROYED.

Its called corporate globalisation, whether it be big banks gobbling up small ones or big sports comps steam rolling small ones.
