Grassy, My suggestion sees them leaving the WAFL alone. I can't see how you don't understand that. They would be playing in a separate compition called something like the BHP cup!

Totally separate from the remaining comp called the WAFL which would see the current 9 WAFL teams playing the other 8 twice for a 16 round home and away season with a finals series.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Sounds like an OK idea , to me the key is to keep them out of finals maybe just have them in the comp but disqualified from finals contention

so how it would work is as follows:

Fixture PFC versus Subiaco: the winner gets four points on the WAFL ladder and in the WA cup
ladder. Ep versus the Eagles: EP would play for points in both competitions the Eagles for four points in the cup.

The Wafl would have its usual finals series
the cup would have no finals -- it would be awarded to the team finishing first; every team should get some prize money right down to a 11 place.

If the Eagles/ Dockers want practice during the finals they have a couple of options:

play each other
put up some money for one of the local clubs whom has failled to make the finals to play.

All of this should be sanctioned by the commission.

This system would definitelly protect the Wafl competition.

Pretty much Ark
I would have thought games v the eagles or dockers would only get 4 points for the WA cup. That's my only small difference.

Sounds OK to me, yep last month they could just play scratchies v each other if needed or as you say - pay a club to put a squad together for a one off hit out..mind you most of the players take a break after mad Monday.

They are Still here under your proposal and Not doing anything to make the Competition more Attractive. Why don't you see and Understand that they are not here to do the Competition competition ANY favours at all.

They've had NO Intention to do that in ANY way, shape or form. They are simply here to act as wrecking ball to the WAFL,whilst helping the AFL and the WAFC Divide and Conquer us.And with good intentioned people such as yourself putting up ideas that give the above parties succour, you are helping them Split us apart!

Sorry, but the Eagles andDockers Have to GO!Pure and Simple!

Looks like the Board of your beloved Demons has a different view Grassy.

No to a WCE Perth alignment but supportive of a stand alone WCE team in the WAFL.

As your President pointed out, having two successful AFL sides in WA is.very important to footy in this state, including the WAFL.

Therein lies the problem. The rational for the concentration of the WA domiciled AFL players into one WAFL team is based on an incorrect premise. Freo finished last last year so it patently didn't work for them. The eagles have no GF wins with a host club alignment and won three GFs (* on the 2006 one) without one. On that basis the host club alignment model has been a complete failure for the two WA domiciled AFL teams.
