Thought it was a good idea to have 5 teams having a bye. Maybe one game should have been played on Sunday and none on Saturday though.

Must get tv and fixturing right. Btw, no to clubs giving up their home games to the WACA for crying out loud. the place would look like a morgue.

Yeah At first I thought the WACA would be OK , but come to think of it your right , it would look terrrible with 1000 people there. Perhaps Leederville would be better, who knows.

Yep spot on, I reckon that is a big reason people stay away now, personally I would much rather watch it live at home on Fox, with a fridge full of coldies and a dunny nearby.

Being Easter weekend we should see some good attendances for the Friday afternoon/twilight games. Saturdays games should also see some more people going through the gate.

At 10:40am on Saturday it's Western Bulldogs v Brisbane. This game will be finished by 1:30pm.

At 1:40pm it's GWS v Sydney and at 5:45pm it's Gold Coast v St Kilda.

Being realistic and considering the games this weekend in the WAFL I believe that the following targets can be met for attendances.

Peel v East Fremantle Good Friday 2:10pm Target: 1800-2100

Subiaco v East Perth Good Friday 4:40pm Target: 4000-4500

Perth v South Fremantle Easter Saturday 2:10pm Target: 2300-2700

Swan Districts v Claremont Easter Saturday 2:10pm 2800-3300

Just quickly over the last four Easter Rounds (2009-2012) this is the average crowd at the games when adding all the attendances up.

2009: 2660.5

2010: 2920.25

2011: 3521.75

2012: 2837.75

Do people here think that there are less country people coming to Perth now days to watch the WAFL.
I know when I was in the country in my younger days, a lot of guys took the trip to Perth to watch their teams play.
Do you think there has been a drop off of country people at games?

There is no doubt the number of country people coming to games has dropped dramatically, they now come and watch the Eagles and Dockers instead.

Goodie wrote: Personally I expect attendances to fall this year. The main reason is because the wafl attracts mainly traditionalists who will be unhappy with the competition being compromised by East Perth and Peel's AFL connections. I expect the Perth derby to be hit hard by this. In particular, if both Peel and East Perth have good seasons i think you will see people walk away from the wafl. If these two teams are weak then it will probably be business as usual.

The wafl may be living on borrowed time but only time will tell.

Wow your prediction has so far proven to be amazingly accurate.

Good but I would think each crowd would be about 1000 under your target ?

The attendance figures for the matches played on Good Friday. At the Subiaco match is 3,500 and for the East Fremantle game is 1,500. If those figures are true, a difference of 2,000 between the 2 matches.

they are just estimates! The West online estimated 1500 at the EF v Peel match whilst Perthnow (Sunday Times) estimated 2500. Wait for the official figures!
