After 8 or 9 years of consecutive good numbers we dipped a bit in 2012. We really need to get it back up again in 2013.

Some worrying observations. Peel let us down yet again with all 20 matches they were involved in getting less than an acceptable 1,900. Anything less than 1,900 is pretty awful really.

One year of disappointing numbers isn't a crisis but two might be. Got to find a way to get our mates along this year. Need some better promotions from the clubs also.

Good reading LH. It'll be interesting to see the 2013 stats for the peel dorks at the end of the year. Also be interesting to see what the other sleazebags bring through the gate.

You would think peel would get even less now. You'd think they'd struggle to pull a couple of hundred genuine supporters after the merge.

Peels numbers to improve.

Should change name to the Mandurah Dockers with same jumper etc. Even more would go.

East Perth (who should have been left alone) will break even I imagine.

Top four of

Swans
West Perth
Perth
Subi

This could bring some numbers.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Interesting figures LH ..and proves once & for all what an abject failure Peel have been to the WA football system both on the field & off the field ...I can tell you from someone who has attended all Swans v Peel games 90+% of the crowd are Swans supporters both at Rushton & Basso & I am sure all the other WAFL clubs would be around the same figure which bring our crowd averages down quite considerably ..what has this money sucking leech actually done for WA footy I ask especially now all they are is just the Fremantle Reserves???

Yeah, the Mandurah community just haven't embraced Peel at all.

Back in 1997 they probably should have only given them a colts licence. That's really all they have been - a feeder club to the AFL.

Maybe that will change when they start winning more games. I doubt that Mandurah folk will care too much if the team is stacked with AFL players. And let's face it, they don't have a core of hardcore supporters that will be put off by the arrangement. It's been friends and relatives only so far.

East Fremantle are a worry. They have supporters. That's clear when they have a derby but they don't turn up anymore for other matches. I'd much rather see them get 2500 at every home game instead of 1500 every week plus one attendance of 6000.

I don't really understand what happened at EF. Is it the facilities putting people off? Have the locals lost the connection with their local club? Is the ground in a bad location? Maybe a bit of each.

If we get a competition with a lot of uneven matches due to the AFL factor the attendances could suffer. I think the EP v Peel matches could draw a bit of extra interest at least initially from the AFL only types and it remains to be seen if any of this sticks. This year there will be a bit of a novelty factor with AFL thing and I will be keen to see how Subi go against these "clubs".

Personally I expect attendances to fall this year. The main reason is because the wafl attracts mainly traditionalists who will be unhappy with the competition being compromised by East Perth and Peel's AFL connections. I expect the Perth derby to be hit hard by this. In particular, if both Peel and East Perth have good seasons i think you will see people walk away from the wafl. If these two teams are weak then it will probably be business as usual.

The wafl may be living on borrowed time but only time will tell.

The Alignment doesnt start until 2014! Even though Peel will be stacked this year not so EP. I see 2013 as being a good year for attendances except for Peel and EP games as from what I have heard a lot of supporters will not be going to these games when their club plays them.
Now 2014 will be a different story with a lot of Loyal WAFL supporters not becomming members and moving on because of the uneven playing field.
Just my thoughts
