LH thank you.
I believe country zoning came into being around 1969/70 but metro zoning began long before that.
If you read some of Ooslumbird's fine interviews many of those old stars from the 1940s, 50s & 60s always make comment for example how they lived on the EP side of the street rather than the SD or vice versa etc.
in 1969 i played for queens park junior footy club which was perth's zone.i think teams in the south  suburban league like kenwick were unasigned. to any club.perths junior teams were queens park, carlisle, collier, centrals, manning and a few more i've forgotten about.

Don't mean to split hairs, BH, but Clarke is originally from the Wheatbelt, maybe Calingiri, but I accept his junior club was Manning. Maybe he had family in Perth rather than boarding? Not sure that really means anything so far as this discussion is concerned.

You may well be right mate but my understanding is that there were no official zones metro until 1970 but there were feeder clubs and certain obligations and expectations for players who lived within proximity to a club.

But you might correct.

There is the famous fable that all 8 clubs won at least one premiership in the first 12 years since zoning in 1970.

But yeah, you could be 100% right and I might be 100% wrong because I just can't find any actual documentation.
From memory LH from 1970 (the start of country zoning) to 1987 every WAFL club won at least 2 Premierships-

CL- 1981, 1987  (GFs- 1972, 1982, 1983)
EF- 1974, 1979, 1985  (GF's- 1977, 1984, 1986)
EP- 1972, 1978  (GF's- 1971, 1976)
PE- 1976, 1977  (GF's- 1970, 1974, 1978)
SD- 1982, 1983, 1984  (GF's- 1980)
SF- 1970, 1980  (GF's- 1975, 1979, 1981)
SU- 1973, 1986  (GF's- 1985, 1987)
WP- 1971, 1975  (GF's- 1973)

All clubs also were runner's up (Grand Finallists) at least once in this era as well.
Country zoning was working but then after the Eagles began to take hold in WA then you had the abominations like Fremantle & Peel come along the whole thing went to shit unfortunately!

PFC has had very very few solid WAFL footballers who went through PSA system in last 20 years,as in guys who didn’t go to AFL and gave us good service.

I can think of A Zuchoni,(who turned out to be awful guy to PFC) , ummm, Nup I’m struggling already..

Help??  Anyone?
On your current list just off the top of my head STT-

Matt Rogers (Scotch)
Brant Colledge (Aquinas)
Jack Richardson (Scotch)
Corey Yeo (Aquinas)
Fraser McInnes (Trinity)
Marshall Jones (Guildford)
Regan Clarke (Aquinas)
Austin Davis (Guildford)
Eyres?

All have been or are going to be good servants at Perth.
Since this is about Perth FC "zoned' players why would you mention recruits Corey Yeo and Jack Richardson who both started their careers at Claremont where they were zoned? Eyres is from Vic Park juniors, Rogers always been listed as from Cunderdin. Maybe he went to Scotch I don't know.
Get on your bike.

Ummm the question was asked about PSA boys giving great service at Perth and I just answered it!
Matt Rogers is definitely an old PSA boy!

Cheers BH...so it looks like some of the PSA schools have given Perth Footy club more than what some folk thought....looks like the goal posts are getting moved a bit too BH.....

DD,  Corey Yeo is an EF product who went to Cl then Perth...STT....surely you can add McInnes to your PSA list of Perth products....by good service surely winning a F&B counts as good service....

I say again, if PFC can't or won't service the metro zone they have now, what will the be able to do with a bigger zone?

Which Clubs are going to lose areas if PFC get's it? How happy will they be?

PFC's current zone is no 'worse' than the zones of a number of other Clubs, but they appear get a lot less out of it.

Complaining about lower socio economic areas is one thing, but then not visiting South Perth JFC doesn't make sense. Is it an indication of how they treat their whole zone? Unfortunately, the evidence is pretty clear in that regard.

I'm afraid much of the answer to their problems looks like a really simple 'lift your game'.
