Yep - They had a couple of plans, one was to acquire Perth Oval and make that WAFL HQ , I think Bayswater Oval was also talked about.

Instead they built the 3 tier in 1969 and then took out a massive loan for the 2 tier, both were cheap and poor quality, it also was done when interest rates ran off track and by 89 the debt became unsustainable, all on land they never owned.

I am not sure about the 3 Tier Stand but have read the 2 Tier Stand was built by Vince Yovich's building construction company, Vince was the WAFL President in the early 1980s although I think when the decision was made to build the 2 Tier Stand (circa 79/80) Jim Davies was the President at that time.

Both were crap quality, the 2 tier slightly more modern, but built to a budget, the mere fact it was dropped to 2 tiers and then the second tier was pretty shallow depth wise anyway speaks volumes of the tight arses at the time. No doubt ripped off the price as well.

I think the 3 tier stand was finished around 1969, the plan being that it would be on the wing of a north/south realigned subi oval. The WANFL had purchased the properties between the oval and the rail line to the north, a new station was to built right at the northern end and later stages would see the three tiers carried all around for a 60k + capacity ....... that was the vision anyway but was never to be, maybe they couldn't source enough of those "fabulous" yellow plastic tractor seats to do the whole ground!!!!

Yep 1969 and you are right, the whole oval was supposed to be re aligned - but I think you mean East - West , The 3 tier being on the wing, and eventually carried all the way around, never happened - all to hard for all the parties concerned, money dried up as well.

Instead they ended up with a patchwork of cheap disjointed structures.

Yeah those old yellow tractor seats in the 3 Tier Stand were shockers...not a great Stand full stop but do have some fond memories of it like watching our 1982 drought breaking Premiership from up there along with the 1990 GF upset and the odd State game as well.

In today’s West. There’s a real effort by the looks of it to investigate the salary leak. Maybe they should put more effort into running WAFL/WA footy instead of deflecting their incompetence through an investigation. When there is a leak, you can have it fixed and hope it lasts a little longer or it’s time to get something new.

Spot on SC.
Another complete waste of WA Football money on this moronic "investigation" ...meanwhile no WAFL fixtures out yet, no WAFL season brought forward date as yet in line with every other WA footy comp playing this year, footy clubs are potentially going under across the state etc etc.
A total clean out required asap at that mess of a joint who have their priorities all completely wrong.
Who gives a flying fig where the leak came from it is out there in the public domain now suck it up and deal with it!

And can someone correct me if wrong. Did I not hear the so called commission try and explain the leak as being a "historical" document and was no longer current. Or was my hearing playing tricks?
And what will be the cost of having the 'investigation'. If all these silly plonkers at hq were doing a good job and the best for the Wafl, why is it such a bloody mess?!
Hope I'm wrong but sounds like the sports minister is more talk than action and doesn't want to rock the boat too much.
Apparently an independent review of some kind is happening sometime or other but not heard too much on it.
