Yesterday my local sporting oval was a sea of kids soccer games so it appears Football West has been able to get their junior comp up and running in the blink of an eyelid.

Do they have a $9m salary budget at Football West? Maybe not but they do have someone doing the fixtures, another innovation that the peanuts at the WAFC might want to follow.

wa football has never been well run, which, of course, is not meant as a defence of the current lot.

how come they never managed to get a ground in 100 years?

Could not make this crap up.

Yes apparently a new soccer centre to be built in Queens Park. And this being done in the "hope" Australia wins its bid for the Women's World Cup in 2023. No-one has yet mentioned if Australia's bid is unsuccessful, what happens then?
Meanwhile on the other side of the fence, the Wafl blunders along with no positivity!

Certainly no shortage of money even in these Covid Recession times to fork out to who McGowan and Murray wants pork barrelling with the soccer mob..

Yep true, blunders in the early 80s lead to even bigger ones in the late 80s...

Ideally we should have had a world class sporting stadium built somewhere near its current Burswood location back in the late 1950s for the 1962 Commonwealth (Empire) Games instead of that white elephant they built at Perry Lakes which has neither a rail line nor major thoroughfare road/highway within its near vicinity and which football (WA's biggest sport) could have negotiated to have taken over afterward.
All hindsight now and still would be a pipe dream if not for Barnett actually having the foresight to build 50 odd years later unfortunately.

Unfortunately AR our WAFL forefathers either never had the foresight as our SA cousins did to buld Football Park in 1974 and or the Governments of the time were not on the same page either, you only have to look at the white elephant they built in a terrible location for the once in a generation Commonwealth (Empire) Games we held back in 1962.
If as I posted earlier it was built in a more favourable central location on the train line and close to major thoroughfares the WAFL could well have negotiated take it over after the Games were held and the Stadium would have gotten better usage for the money spent on the build of it rather than just sitting there only to be used for athletic carnivals once a year.
All ancient history now but just shows how conservative or backwards we have been in our thinking over the years.
It would seem the WAFC (WAFL) and WA Gov have rarely been on the same page even to this day.

now that you mention Perry Lakes mate - not long after Football Park was completed there was some fair work put into building a similar Oval by the WANFL
Perry Lakes was seriously examined
the rapidly expanding Wanneroo/North , WACA even Gloucester Park
