Very true Grump....some footy is better then none....but understand folks confusion with the inconsistencies in the Govt decision making.....crowded public transport ok schools, shopping malls ok yet an open sparse WAFL ground not so?...pretty sure the club's would do their utmost to supervise space with folk buying beverages etc safely, just to get the punters in for the much needed revenue....one would like to think the paying public would play their part and act sensibly as well.

My read on the confusion is that the process is a test and see, if this is ok then relax another bit and see!

but then I am ever the optimist that those in control do have some sense, at least this time in WA it has been proven in many ways worthwhile!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Agree Grump & Freeze a season where each team plays each other once is better than nothing at all.
Hopefully by August crowds will be allowed into the grounds as long as social distancing measures are adhered too, it wouldnt be hard to be safely spaced kept apart on our grass banks and Stand/Member areas.
I would assume in July there will be practice matches for all teams to fine tune before the season gets underway Aug 1?
Not sure though why we have to play our GF a week before the AFL GF unless there is a monetary reasoning but if none forthcoming from vfl we should tell them to jump and play our GF when it bests suits US here in WA!!!

See this article in the Melbourne Age which seems to have the same proposed dates for a return for the VFL ( sorry AFL Victoria) as the WAFL

www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/miracle-need...20200522-p54vja.html

This is even though the two states are totally different in the numbers of cases and outbreaks of COVID. Makes no sense at all and is further proof ( if we actually need it) that the WAFC is a puppet of the AFL and is ruled by their directives. Given our numbers in WA, we should be playing WAFL before the end of June or early July at the very latest

Agreed Mike the WAFL should have been back playing by July 1 and with crowds allowed adhering to social distancing regulations but McGowan isnt allowing that at this stage so we have to do as told unfortunately, not too mention the afl wouldnt like it if the WAFL can have crowds and their Vic centric comp cant!

I think you posted earlier BH that it would make sense to have each team play each other once then 2 pool games based on where you finished last year....that would make for a 10 game season plus finals. It sounds like a good plan to me and would have us finishing only one week after the VFL even if we commence 1 August which wouldn't be an issue given most WAFL grounds aren't used during the summer.

BC it just makes sense as we had a similar fixture for years when Peelmantle came into the WAFL in 97 but for some god knows reason they always want the WAFL GF a week before the afl one....fark them I say especially if funding from there has dried up, lets play on after their Vic centric comp is done and dusted!

Sneakers is riding very high in the polls so is not inclined to change anything until those polls start to turn, which I think will be very soon if he doesn't further relax more intrastate boundaries and restrictions on community sports. Really only the suseptable indigenous population areas up north still need to be isolated.

Why 16 minute quarters FFS.
Why do we have to follow everything they do.

Yep...agree BH...a WAFL GF a week after the VFL (sorry AFL) equivalent could see a ripping crowd if restrictions are lifted by then.
