If the WAFL started this weekend, we could have played 16 Rounds where each team played each team twice. But no the muppets wait for the AFL to start to see when their season ends so the WAFL coincides with their dates.

SA is a step ahead as they will start their season on June 27 and 14 Rounds where each team plays each team twice, making it a more fairer and legit season.

Yes AR after having thought about it I believe we should have been back playing WAFL this long weekend and with crowds albeit numbers restricted, social distancing required and all other covid-19 guidelines adhered to.
We would have been able to have got a full season in then as well but alas.
They are now back playing soccer in parts of mainland Europe-Germany, Belarus etc...Asia- Korea...the NRL started back last night, the AFL will start back on June 11 and these are all being played in places with dreadful coronavirus numbers compared to us here in isolated WA.
And why are we playing the WAFL GF a week before the afl gf we should have been playing after theirs to take advantage of the footy starved public, now it will just be lost in amongst all the other Vic centric comp finals.
As much as I despise the bloke the WAFL desperately needs a strong leader like V'Landys who wont be pushed around by the afl self interests and over cautious politicians and health officials!

[size=]if we had wafl this week you would have every man and his dog trying to get in.
although a nice idea I think a little naïve

The idea of club members only to start with is a great idea as it will certainly mean a big jump in memberships. Those who in the past supported but didn't join will have no choice but to join up to see a game live.

Enjoyable reading gentlemen. Its good to know other people feels the same frustration about the wafl. This long weekend is usually one of my favorites of the year. Winter arvos, same old teams of my youth at the same old ovals.
At times it feels childish to gain pleasure from the old comp. The league no longer a shared interest of society, fit only for the out of touch and superseded. It's a bit like currency. if no-one believes in it, it's worthless.

Hopefully, it can be kept alive. It's frustrating because Covid is an opportunity to for wafl to be a shared interest again, with the AFL teams stuck on three gold coast in front of empty stands.

meaning no girlfriends, wives, parents, relatives, friends, sponsors.as much as it would be great to have wafl back we need as many paying customers and sponsors to be able to attend and have a decent crowd and clubs to make some money.

Good points BH & SS, it keeps the regular punters like us happy and agreed there would be a couple of hundred others (at a minimum) buy Membership to go along to the games.

Just ridiculous having to wait another 6 weeks after the glamour boys start, so frustrating for the loyal WAFL supporters and especially the players who have trained nearly 10 months before playing a game.
