BH I have noticed that Sneakers looks east to SA and takes a lead from there whilst retaining his own pathway, I reckon that the start date may changes as we move into June, that is if the government depts can not f*k up again!

Fingers crossed Grump, although I see another 7 cases accounted for today 6 from that Arabian Sheepship and the other from an overseas traveller coming back to Perth FMD.
Thats all the ammunition McGowan will need to keep the joint (including WAFL crowds) closed up!

BH I think it reinforces keeping the ports and airports closed but He will accept they ain't from community transmission (hopefully).

August 1 start still makes it 9 weeks away. The WAFL are the AFL's sheep. What they say they follow. Why do we have to have 16 minute quarters like them? It's a joke!

WA footy seems to lack identity and direction.

BH and all -- I see the Englishmen are kicking off on the 17 June, in spite of all the infections they have compared to WA, which, I am afraid, is another illustration of how the government and the football commission have lost a bit of perspective.

Yes AR after having thought about it I believe we should have been back playing WAFL this long weekend and with crowds albeit numbers restricted, social distancing required and all other covid-19 guidelines adhered to.
We would have been able to have got a full season in then as well but alas.
They are now back playing soccer in parts of mainland Europe-Germany, Belarus etc...Asia- Korea...the NRL started back last night, the AFL will start back on June 11 and these are all being played in places with dreadful coronavirus numbers compared to us here in isolated WA.
And why are we playing the WAFL GF a week before the afl gf we should have been playing after theirs to take advantage of the footy starved public, now it will just be lost in amongst all the other Vic centric comp finals.
As much as I despise the bloke the WAFL desperately needs a strong leader like V'Landys who wont be pushed around by the afl self interests and over cautious politicians and health officials!

AR you could look at this another way. This is a massive risk by the EPL given infection rates in the UK which are second only to the US. It will only take one case amongst the players and the whole thing will come crashing down. I have relatives in the UK who haven't been able to go out of their house for 2 and a half months ( they have some medical conditions) and i'm sure the last thing that will be on their minds is the prospect of live football. I would love to see the WAFL back but we must be cautious to avoid a 2nd wave of the infection.

a 2nd wave in WA ?
the first "wave" was a trickle related to travel.
we are the most isolated city in the world, time to get on with life.

mikeh: I sympathise with your relatives; it is a risk in the UK, two Blackburn players have come down with it, I see, but quarantine them and the rest of the squad can play.

Words largely escape in terms of the situation in WA -- I said right at the start, you issue warnings and people attend events at their own risk.
