Suicidal for the WAFL, 3 months of football ain't worth the financial pain that will follow.

Hopefully we can get started when McGowan finally comes to his senses and allows crowds into WAFL football venues as long as social distancing and other measures are adhered too, as according to the adhoc rules in place at the moment it is ok to have thousands of people together at shopping centres, schools, public transport etc but not local state based sporting clubs.....go figure!?
Otherwise I really cant see the point of playing behind closed doors and it is a huge slap in the face to us loyal WAFL diehard members!
If and when McGowan comes to his senses and allows crowds, considering the state borders are still going to be closed for some time not allowing any Interstate intruders in you could get a 10 game season where we play each other once (8 games) plus play those in each band of 3 again where you finished on the ladder last season- (SU-SF-CL, WP-PE-PL, EF-EP-SD) and then Finals which would be a half decent season, as we dont have the problem of cricket or other spring/summer sports playing on our WAFL grounds either meaning we could play in October & possibly early November if necessary?!

Absolutely on the money BH. It becomes a bit of a nonsense when we're expected to sit next someone on the train for half an hour going to work but can't sit in the outer of a footy ground on our own. I read the other day that social distancing rules don't apply to public transport or air travel....go figure...it sounds a bit selective to me.

Extremely close to the truth..Some clubs may not survive due to costs.. NO football is better than losing clubs.

McGowan doesn’t want to give up his bragging rights that he is gloating about on a daily basis.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

LS we'll hopefully know a lot more tomorrow after the WAFL clubs meet with the commish, according to Subi CEO Capes, the clubs are looking at a July 11th or 18th start but don't expect crowds until early mid August, 8 game season plus finals is the most likely outcome but we wait with baited breath to see what the WAFC comes up with.

McGowan doesnt want people outside attending local sporting events, he wants them inside shopping centres on weekends.
a WAFL club could have people inside its club house having a meal but cant have them outside watching footy in the fresh air.

Good point MO. It does seem strange that I can go to Bunnings, line up outside, get in and mingle with a couple of hundred people but not sit on a terrace at Leederville by myself.

A lot of the problem is McGowan hasnt got a clue about the WAFL, he is a NSW blow in and has no knowledge of pre AFL culture in this state.

that and the WAFLs low profile mean its off the radar for him and the ALP.

At least Barnett was a pro WAFL bloke.

That is quite true as recently at one of his daily Covid-19 press conferences a female reporter (Good on you young lady) asked him when could we expect the WAFL to be started he seem startled that someone would ask him like he had no idea what the WAFL was and then his reply was "That is not the first time I have been asked that question".
Although in fairness he was probably taken aback someone would ask about OUR Football League first over that Vic centric comp!
Coming from NSW & living in Rockingham (Peelmantle's zone) for all of his WA days of 30 years or so probably wouldnt help his knowledge but you would have thought he would have done a little research on WA's 135yo Premier State Based Sporting Competition?!
The likes of former Premier's Scaddan, Brand, O'Connor etc would be turning in their grave at the lack of WAFL knowledge whilst more recently Gallop, Carpenter & Barnett all had a love of and close links to the WAFL!
