These clowns are cultural vandals. They have their tongues that far up the AFL coit its not funny. They sacrifice WA footy at the altar of AFL worship. I've got news for Wayne and Gavin and Naptime and the rest of these frauds - feeding a production line of WA youth to the AFL beast ain't benefiting WA football. The overwhelming majority of footballers in WA don't go near the AFL let alone the WAFL. This obsession with talent identification to feed the AFL machine is a disgrace. How about thinking about the bloke who pulls on a jumper for the Hammersly-Carine reserves every week, or the kid playing for fun at the Manning Nippers. What are they getting from the WAFC - fk all.

And to strangle the viability of the WAFL by pinching 9 of the $11.2m on offer is beyond belief.

And a big fk you to the WA Government as well. They clearly have no idea where that $11.2m goes after they hand over the cheque. That in itself is a scandal.

Spot on Dazz.
I dont particularly care for the afl much other than to see how the SD boys are going and to a lesser extent WA boys.
Now the WAFC themselves bang on about how there are 350,000 West Aussies playing/participating in football in this state across WAFL, PFL, Country Football, Junior Football, Masters, Auskick, Schools etc (both male & female for all the listed) and yet their whole major focus & spend it would seem is geared around the dozen or so who get drafted into the afl each year most who would get there on talent alone without the gross overspend on their development.

Salaries are just one mate - there's countless other dollars blown on trips East to view AFL matches (McHenry was into that honeypot a bit) catering , expenses etc
It's being thrown purely to provide for the Vicco league and it's demands
Hell of a lot of money has been going into bank accounts instead of where it was intended and desperately required
the footy

I think it's pointless just continuing commentary and complaining of the ineptness of the so called 'commission'.
I'm led to believe the sports minister has a scheduled meeting next week.
If that meeting is unsatisfactory, I think Wafl fans should start making A LOT of noise and maybe start getting more proactive to bring about positive change.
If nothing comes of/ nor serious questions get answered of the latest revelation, then the whole thing will simply be swept under the carpet (once again).
It'll become like the wheels on the bus go round and round!
Surely the time has to come to say no more!
If nothing is done about the latest revelation, it's partly our fault too for not doing anything!

a large blockade was imposed approximately 3 years ago when the WAFC put a gag on clubs making any statements (and a chair installed to facilitate)
yet another wage and no direct voice from the clubs - this has to be removed entirely
add this one to the long list of methods that the SANFL does better than us at a local level

I wish one could say that one was suprised, but alas. In some ways, one could justify the salaries if they actually did give the Victorians a bit of grief. The easiest one is to pull out, preferrably with SANFL, until they raise the draft age.

Very sad to read that a fella with WAFL roots is getting paid $1000 per hour for his services by the WAFC, knowing full well the state of the comp...obviously others getting paid crazy sums of money depleting the 11 million footy pot....but you would think some one with a connection to the comp, a comp which enabled him to reach the footy elite in the first place, rewarding him handsomely in the process, would know better....

How old is that Sports Minister fella Murray?...going on the pic in the paper he looks like he is ready for his pipe, slippers and pension pay out....be interested to see what he does....or doesn't do....

The $1000 per hr is not an amount the person is paid as a weekly pay otherwise he would be on $2mil a year salary.
That figure was for the delivery of a specific event that the morons reporting on this decided to take the amount received and divide it by the length of the event, totally disregarding any prep work or intellectual property that went into the content.
For people on here to keep quoting that an employee of the WAFC is on $1000 per hr is simply inane.
Likewise the salary bill of $9.2m is an average salary of $71k for the 130 employees.
Yes, there are ones at the top who earn $200k+, but football programs are labour intensive, are we expecting that the employees do it for nothing.
If the WAFC isn't paying people I'm lost to understand what else the people on here think that the money should be spent on. Certainly not equipment or any other infrastructure, that is not what the money is for.
