So school footy starts next week and junior footy 18th July.
I hope all those kids playing and their parents watching don’t catch coronavirus like they think will happen to wafl crowds

I hope so too as it would set back the timetable for the lifting of other restrictions.
Gee they might then shorten the Jobkeeper payment period, then what would I do.

I worry about all that affects my fellow man.
I worry for those of us who think the most important thing on the agenda is the start of the WAFL season because when it does start they will be convinced their continued baying about it had anything to do with it. They will of course convince themselves otherwise because they know they just know better than everyone else.

It is a voluntary position.

I’ll have a go. I will bet you the house they get invited along to all wce and dockers game lunches for a start...and that they looooove it....

I bet that they get invited to wafl games too....and go mid and again because they have to....

I bet they get to go to the afl gf.

Even if all that were true, it is a voluntary position.
If they were paid directors in a similar size organisation they would receive a min of $24k pa to attend Board and other committee meetings.
Put a price on the benefits you perceive they get, lets say $3k a year (AFL GF tickets don't come with Accommodation or Air Fares)
So your poor impoverished underclass opinion thinks that is too much for the time and knowledge they put in.
The WAFL presidents get tickets to the AFL GF and AFL tickets at various times.
Without any knowledge of your background I would bet you are a wage and salary earner who has for years begrudged what the owners or those higher up receive.

Well Know all I’m sorry you have to explain everything to us salary earners. Why don’t we just call it bad management then. Surely even you can’t argue with that comment. Or do you feel they have done, and are doing a splendid job running WA football. Another thing snob, I couldn’t care less what other people earn, but I do care about the WAFL competition.

It is a bit curious worrying about when the wafl starts.

Other sports, apart from cricket, seem utterly unimportant to me. I wouldn't really care if they vanished for ever. The Olympics didn't happen. How can i go on?

Its not just sport. If the universe finished tomorrow, people would forget about it in a week or two.

It seems incongruous to me that there's sport with crowds in the NT this weekend, the NRL will have restricted crowds next weekend, Racing WA will have crowds in attendance at Belmont today and what's the WAFC doing? SFA from what I can see. There needs to be a bloodless coup at the WAFC, turf out the gym owner and put an adult in charge of the place.

Here's an extract from a story in the West where Peter Capes agrees.

Subiaco will push to start the WAFL season two weeks earlier to take advantage of potential reduced community restrictions next month.
WAFL clubs are due to play practice matches from July 18 but Subiaco chief executive Peter Capes argued yesterday that they should be replaced by two rounds of league games.
But no decision will be made for several weeks with the WA Football Commission still committed to the proposed August 1 WAFL restart.

Capes told a meeting of club chief executives yesterday that a July 18 restart was feasible and should be considered as WA moves to phase three restrictions today.
“Under the rules about to come into effect, we will be able to have 600 people at Leederville Oval this weekend,” Capes said.
“It is a no-brainer to look at an earlier start to the season if we are able to get bigger crowds by July.”

The major complication in an earlier start would be fixturing logistics, with another three weeks required to play an extra two matches in a 10-game home-and-away season.
That means each club would have two byes over a 12-round season before finals.
“We might have to play a round of midweek league games to even the fixture,” Capes said.
Clubs have been asked to complete venue plans for their grounds to confirm the maximum capacity under the current 2sqm limit for every person in attendance.
That equation will allow some grounds to host crowds above 2000 people — more than the average crowd at every WAFL venue last year. WAFL clubs will return to full training this week with the first practice matches scheduled for July 18.
Meanwhile, a two-month VFL season appears likely to go ahead after fruitful negotiations between the eight standalone and AFL-aligned clubs, the league and the AFL.
A start date may be announced this week.

It is not often (if ever) that I have agreed with Subi over the last 30 years but they are spot on here to push for an earlier start to mid July plus play an extra 2 rounds taking the season to 10 games each (plus Finals).
Although instead of playing a mid week fixture as proposed why dont we just push our season out so our WAFL GF is to the week after the afl GF!
