Ark Paul Mountain taught me in 1979, yr 7, at Maylands Primary....Great guy, we had great banter leading up to the 79 GF.... on our school camp to Point Peron, I told him in great detail how Brian Peake was a way better footballer then him.....at My Lawley High School we had an ex Cl player in Colin Viska as our PE teacher....stocky midfielder sort, used to do some wicked stab passes at those kids not paying attention or chatting away in PE....you had to be on full alert to mark them....absolute bullets....

Round 10 2006 swans v subi at leederville.
Swans win by 22 points, only 1 of 2 games subi lose all year. Subi won gf by 70 points.
Griffin kicks 4. Swans dominate subi for a change. Very memorable one.

Welcome Swans29, good to have another supporter on deck, didn't see that game but must have been a huge upset at the time given Subiaco's dominance that season. Don't think we made the finals that year?

freezin -- good one on Paul Mountain and Colin Viska-- those stab passes you mentioned are pretty rare these days given the defensive style of play.

swans 29: in line with mikeh, I wanted to welcome you on to the site as well; keep up the great posts.

Also had Ian Logan as a primary school teacher. Who was my grandfather's next door neigbour.Wp player wingman quiet a good footballer.Graeme Campbell tried to take Ian to the Sanfl with him after he left WP as coach.Took Ross Gibbs with him to Glenelg.

Ross Gibbs moving to Glenelg is why they are my SA side :)

A few WP boys moved over to SA back then Leedy-
Ross Gibbs- Glenelg
Rod Campbell- Glenelg
Brian Adamson- Norwood
John Duckworth- Central Districts
Gavin Chaplin- Central Districts

A couple did return and you got a couple of handy one's coming this way in return in David Palm & Mick O'Brien.

mikeh wrote: BC's post about Subiaco memorable moments gave me an idea which if nothing else will take our minds off this damn virus for 5 minutes.

I was thinking why don't we look at our teams opponent each weekend and recount a memorable victory in the past over this team.

For example Swans would have played Subiaco this week and one of my best memories of a game against them was in 2015 on a cold foul windy day at Bassendean when we snuck home by a point on the back of an incredible 20 tackle performance by Ryan Davis. It was nip and tuck all day but we just happened to have our noses in front at the final siren. Sadly this game is also the last time Swans beat Subiaco. BH, Swandog or other Swans fans may have a different game to recall.
So this weekends games would have been
SD V S
Perth v WCE
EF v C
EP v Peel
SF V WP

Perth supporters have limited material I know, but I recall you had a good victory over them in round 1 last year.
Lets see what we can come up with? If people are interested I will put up the "fixtures" every friday for people to comment.

For the most famous moment in East Fremantle Claremont rivalry it is hard to go past the 1964 Grand Final. East Fremantle seemingly were heading towards victory when Bert Thornley snapped a goal early in time on of the last quarter to put what should of been enough day light between the two sides. But Ian Brewer kicked two late goals to put Claremont ahead. A 24 year drought ended as a fourth flag was secured. It must of been a harrowing experience for the Old Easts as it was their 3rd league grand Final defeat in as many years.

Thirty years later the Sharks would turn the tables on a second semi final loss against the Tigers securing a 28th league flag and recording one their greatest victories.

Welcome aboard Swans29.
From memory Luke Miles took a huge hang in the backline in that game, was a huge upset that day.

I mentioned Olsen's nine in a half, but yes, Ugle's 12 before half time had to be seen to believed. And he was injured at the time...
