Hello all,

Enjoyed this thread all year and thought I'd actually spend the 2 mins to register and contribute.

As part of Brentwood, I can tell you we did everything we could not to forfeit a week and a half ago. Unfortunately it came down to us having only 7 fit/available players, including the coach.

On the weekend we played a good, fair content against Quinns but unfortunately we only started with 18 and lost 3 players to injury fairly early on in the match. Fought it out well but still went down by 41 points.

It's hard to get a team at this time of year with injuries and the fact we are getting beaten every week. As many have said before, the grading leaves a little to be desired.

Still, that won't stop us from giving it all this week and for the rest of the year. Let the banter continue!

Welcome aboard woof woof....the more banter the better as they say.... I haven't decided who I'm gonna have a crack at this week yet.... Maybe you'd like to add to the mix....any ideas on how to take down the all conquering superpower that is Rossmoyne??? No longer sure we can rely on the boys from the Farm to take them down. Highpants has already sounded me out and corrected me for declaring Rossmoyne beatable...hence I've deduced that the systemic forfeiting of matches against them by all could possibly bring them undone. After all, not all wars are won by facing the enemy head on, well not until grand final day of course!!!

Just wanna clarify that in no way was I suggesting ur guys would forfeit willingly as am aware from some posts on this thread and chatting with a few of ur guys that BB have been struggling for numbers at stages this year and knowing that its ur thirds side that's completely understandable. To the contrary Ive heard stories over past couple of seasons how players have doubled up and vets played to keep the team going. Congrats on doing so. Hope you can end ur year off with a couple of high notes.

Good to see you on here Double Woof and likewise it's good to be back myself.

I've finally put down the glass and stopped celebrating our maiden win a few weeks back and just had time to open up the laptop and tap out some thoughts.

Indeed, the forfeit against Rossmoyne was unfortunate. The Australia vs Lions game took out half our side, the other quarter was away and what was left (myself included) was an absolute shambles of rabble that wouldn't have beaten an under 15s side. If we called in reinforcements (brothers, fathers, uncles, randoms on the street) we may have been able to scrape 14 together for a game...and then been piledrived to the tune of some 250+ points which would have been a waste of everyone's time considering it was a Saturday 5pm start.

Backing up this week with 18 for the trip to South Bali was a gallant effort with us still missing what I would say are 12 of our best 18 players. We pushed on with 15 after some injuries, but just couldn't seem to get it passed half way for about 85% of the fixture, thus making it slightly difficult to score. Particularly enjoyed the hilarious quip from some drunkard on the boundary who thought it funny to yell out 'only another 15 to go' when one of our players was being helped off with concussion. Perhaps said individual should take a good look at himself making those sort of comments in an E1 game and take his premier brand of comedy elsewhere.

So we return home this week to a crowd of barflies, kids on the monkey bars and the people walking to Garden City after not being able to find a car park to showcase our incredibly poor abilities. I don't know who we are playing, but I'm sure they will turn up brimming with confidence - and well, who can blame them.

Bring on E5 next season.

Might have to come join you fellas for a game next year CKCH. Attitudes to E grade footy seem to be about right up there at BB. Fun first policy should be engaged by all at this level. Any fwd pockets left for 40yo's or is there already a waiting list???

I think that Rossmoyne are in a pretty similar position to what your boys were last year where they were beating everyone to the tune of 100 points for a large part of the season. Eventually though complacency set in and a few of the games against the higher sides get closer and confidence rises.
That being said you were still pretty convincing in the grand final but who knows what will happen this year.

Also thanks to the Brentwood boys for making the trip the up the coast, playing well and keeping the score respectable on the weekend. It's been a hard year but I think we're all hopeful you can notch up a couple of wins before seasons end.

EXTREMELY frustrating being a part of E2 lately, the last couple weeks only having 2 games go ahead in the grade, 3 if we are lucky.
we have 2 forfeit byes in a row. would much prefer to be playing footy on a consistant basis, thats what we pay our fees for.

we managed to put 18 on the park against Collegians on the weekend but 4 of them were lets say, not fit to play football.

We haven't forfeited yet and so far no one in E3 has but unless the league restructure completely 2 up 2 down won't fix this for at least 3-5 years.

Viper, you guys will be in E4 next year. Relegation will have seemed to have worked then. Apart from the top 3 in E4 that league looks fairly competitive.
Clearly there are 2 better teams in E3. Can't see any dramas with that league after relegation.
Clearly 2 better teams in E2.
It wont be perfect but players move around every year anyway.

Yeah, not that I was a part of that team Highpants (injuries got the better of me the previous year) although I did go down and watch a few mates play in the GF. It's kinda ridiculous that most of them guys are playing in the C3 ressies this year and they are smashing the opposition most weeks under the same coach. Last year was all about finally getting a flag for the old man Dog who had played about 800 games of footy without success. You may remember his "dashing" 5 mins of play in junk time of the GF. Still, its not as if its a one team club and in half a side crossing over from Basso a few years back with the coach on their entry to Amateurs (the reasons I won't go in to) it has ensured the club have a 3rds team (unfortunately it seems to have hurt Basso who no longer can field a 3rd's side). Numbers are good at the club and the future seems to be in good hands as the club is run better than any other amateur club I've seen first hand. Culture is good and family friendly too which is a nice change TBH. Having said that, I'm still a Basso boy at heart!!!

that's ok for us and we'll be fixed in 1 year. The issue will be if they stay with 2 up 2 down to fix this the teams struggling in E1 could take 3-4 years to get down to their correct grade.

They may go to E2 but be better than bottom 2 and can't beat anyone else so they stay up a year. Then finally get in bottom 2 year after etc.

We're lucky we ended in E3 and even though we won't win a game this year (or very unlikely too) we will at least be competetive next year ... IF we can get the players to come back.
