Looking at a picture of Bondi today they just don't give a damn - hardly a mask in sight and packed walkways mate

Watching Sky News Australia it is quite remarkable how certain commentators appear to think it is Victoria that is the problem and not New South Wales and some still think that in order to quell the delta strain it is appropriate to only lockdown the LGAs that have COVID cases.
You spend your life bagging the conservative commentators , the murdoch press, the corruption of democracy via a wealthy media baron and then sit there and watch it and whats more PAY murdoch for the privlege...
Farcical.
Stick to the ABC and The Guardian.

to say that even with 80% Vax rates he would still use lock downs, is outrageous, it undermines the drive to vaccinate, especially given WA has crap rates compared to other states, which is another thing teflon Cook seems to escape any scrutiny on.

If people who are vaccinated don't get certain advantages over those that are not then whats the driver and if we are still going to locked up its pointless.

I agree. I find it incredible that he would make such an irresponsible statement, without any need to, that can only undermine both motivation to vaccinate and tolerance for public health orders. Getting compliance with public health orders is hard enough without it being undermined from within from a puffed up windbag revelling in his own hubris. How dumb is this guy?

He's giving the lunatic in NSW a good run although she's streets ahead when it comes to delusion and incompetence at the minute but McGowan doesn't like to be outdone at these things.

Or maybe he was just reading from the BHP/RTIO/FMG script?

With the greatest of respect I would recommend that people actually read what McGowan said.  In terms of the vaccine rollout a significant part of the problem has been the lack of vaccines available.  I personally know that it was several weeks after contacting my GP before I could get my first vaccine shot.

Where did you get that the lack of vaccines was a problem? I read only a couple of weeks ago that in WA only 78% of vaccines available were being used and the rest thrown away. Those numbers are in part due to the vaccines being AZ but also McGoo making statements like he did yesterday which breeds complacency and hesitancy to get jabbed.  People ask why should they get vaccinated when it's not going to stop lockdowns anyway?

Are you saying I didn't have to wait weeks before I was able to receive my first vaccine shot?

Maybe you did but you also made the statement that a significant part of the problem was vaccines not being available when clearly they are.

Well he is a New South Welshman Dazz, so I would say he is therefore very very dumb!

Lets face it every state could have done better, the federal government should have done better and yep should have  but the simple fact is that we were not prepared for this type of catastrophic event and therein lies part of the problem.

We now have politics playing a significant part in how we are managing what is happening now.

WA have McGoo going to what really amounts an extreme posture with his 80% but still taking lockdowns a key strategy when targeted ones are the way forward. His no vac' posture is ok by me as long it is directed at everyone and allows some folk to travel within and into here with some certainty.

We have QLD, TAS, SA and NT all going down a similar path to WA but without the somewhat bullying tactic and then we have NSW and VIC where it seems that it is the population that is really the big issue.

Yep Gladiolus jis/was just being a twit and not listening (as it turns out if the media is to be believed). I am not surprised that the NSW population is behaving the way it is, her and her cabinets leadership has been non existent and relying on Morrison to bail her out which he does everytime whilst bagging other places.

Perhaps the lesson to be learned is that it is great to do disaster planning for fires, cyclones and floods but it needs to events that aren't the norm like pandemics and lets hope it never happens war!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended
