do you know categorically he won't allow them to play? if that's the case why is Kitchin and Heal playing? and I don't see what last saturday's farce has to do with this saturday's mickey mouse game against an undermanned tassie....shepherd never denied making a call to the WAFC someone else from FART did on his behalf...which for mine doesn't mean it isn't so.

Most teams have injury problems at the moment and there was even some comment about a few players selected in the squad hobbling around at training. My point is if the coaches of West Perth, South Fremantle and East Fremantle took the same tack as Schofield, the game would not be worth playing. Your bolded comment summarises Subiaco's attitude towards the state game.

it summarises MY attitude to this game and also the one against NEAFL. Games against the VFL and SANFL are very worthwhile and gives us a good indication of how our comp sits in the big scheme of things...I would hope all clubs get on board for those games including Subi.

reckon SD should make all their guys available...run them into a bit of form and confidence with a win over Tassie eh? ....perhaps Tim Geappen can ask his brother to get his Tassie side to roll over.... .

Don't understand what all the fuss is about Subi players dropping out...are Subi the form team of the comp right now?...nope...the form team at present is WP...6 wins on the trot thus a lot of their guys are in form and deserve a go...as are SF....as for EF...Anthony is injured with a finger fracture, Jmac has been managed all year with his achilles, Hampson hasn't played for a few weeks....so they are all reasonable outs....BOB has been culled, thought he out of all EF players would of been a monty...Stephen will play...maybe Peake as he is the leading small forward of the comp...watson won't play sounds sore from all reports.

I agree with you about the NEAFL however Tasmania is a footy state with a long history like WA, VIC and SA. WA V TAS games go back a long way. In which case, I think they deserve to be treated similarly to the games against SA and Vic by putting our best available team out there.

mikeh do you mean best available by name or players in actual good form right now?....yeah Cockie is a great player but is he the best inside mid of the comp right now?....ditto to Broughton and Horsley too.....are they cutting up the comp at present....dont think so...because Subi have lost a few recently....unlike WP and SF who are form teams over the past month.

I don't disagree with your comments re tassie being a footy state...the only problem is the better players coming from that state tend to go north for obvious reasons leaving a domestic comp which is relatively uncompetitive against the likes of Vic, SA and WA making it a complete mismatch that doesn't really achieve a whole lot.

I'd love to see Hams, ROB, Schloithe, Neates and co in the same side...the free kick count would be 50 - zip in WA's favour. :silly:

I agree, whilst I respect Tassie's footy heritage, I find this State game nothing more than tokenism at the best, its being hosted just for the sake of saying they held a state game, I cannot get excited about the contest at all, it will be a one sided miss match, at the most the blokes from Tassie get a trip away and a fun weekend.

For us the local WAFL clubs might get a chance to size up some talent and maybe poach a player or two from Tassie. That's about all it will achieve.

I cannot really provide you with a definitive answer on that as I have only seen Subiaco once and am relying on newspaper reports and looking at stats to ascertain their players form.

One thing I can tell you is that Riggio and Notte are by no means in career best form either ( reasonable at best I reckon) and in a team that is the polar opposite to being the form team of the competition right now. Subi have had a dip in form sure but they are still equal top of the ladder and I find it hard to believe that Riggio and Notte are in better form than guys like Horsley, Cockie, Wheeler and a few of the others.

Note that Schofields suggestion was that WAFL clubs "share the load" by having similar numbers from each club play when it comes to state games which implies that you wouldn't have the best form team anyway.
