Senior Seagull wrote: Would expect these Subi players to be under consideration:
Horsley - super consistent, rarely under 25 disposals hits his targets and prime contender as skipper
Delahunty - in stellar form always up against bigger tap ruckmen but dominates around the ground.
Wheeler - As above plus regularly in the goal kickers, can play key back, key forward or pinch hit in the ruck.
Phelan - Another big possession winner big body and elite by foot.
Kitchen - had a couple of quiet games recently, smart footballer great at stoppages and super fit.
Cockie - one of the strongest bodies in the comp, brutal at the stoppages and clearences and elite by foot.
Heal - has massively stepped up as tall defender in the absence of Lockyer, great mark, good at ground level, rarely beaten.
Shepherd - Imposing at FF has worked into good form recently has pace for a big man and a good mark and kick currently equal top goal scorer in the comp with Peake who would be first pick small forward.

Also throw in Ryan on current form

“It is not ideal but I would rather prepare a larger squad and reduce it than have to add players at the last minute.”

As good a squad as you could pick at the moment and Harris is smart to have a larger squad to work with than usual given the short break that several teams have after the Foundation day LWE.

Missed the squad because I have been away. Looks a strong group that will play fast footy on the expanses of Bassendean.
I expect the final selection to be dominated by the top 4 teams once the squad is trimmed. Swans best chance of a representative would be Justin Simpson I reckon because of his versatility. Two players who I am pleased for are Jarryd Bell who has been a consistent defender over the past season and a bit and Luke Meadows who has always played well against Swans and sparked off that fightback where we were overrun in the last 10 minutes at Joondalup last year.

Looking at the squad, I personally can't see how Tony Notte doesn't get a game as a tall defender, especially with Anderson breaking his ankle. Hopefully Simmo lines up beside him.

Good news for the Dees that Angus has not been selected. Definitely deserves it but we need him more.
Angus Graham would have to be the leading ruckman in the competition atm. Averages 40 hitouts per game and contributes around the ground and kicks goals.

Not according to my fixtures. On the day of the state game, Fremantle are in Brisbane and the Eagles play Adelaide in Perth in the evening. The next Western Derby is on August 7th.
