So you are assuming then that this group of Subiaco players have not suddenly developed that debilitating condition called "general soreness"

So you are assuming they have?

Look I'm surprised any Subi players are still alive let alone fit to play as they have been playing and training on that death trap called Leederville Oval !

I think everyone would agree that the state team is not the best one that could be fielded because of the absence of several of the Subiaco players that were in the original squad. Why have these players not been picked?. As I see it there are three options

1. Poor selection or anti Subiaco bias by the panel as you seem to be suggesting. To be honest I would struggle to see why this would be the case as I would imagine the coach and others would want to put the best team out as their reputation is on the line. Feel free to present an alternate viewpoint on this however.

2.The Subiaco players are all genuinely injured and therefore unavailable. As I said before all but one of the 9 players selected played against Peel on Sunday so again whilst it is possible it would be unlikely. I noticed that Declan Jackson has been reported as having Osteitis Pubis, which is a very serious condition that can keep players out long term. It will be interesting to see if he plays for Subiaco in the next round.

3. Subiaco have determined that only a certain number of players will be made available for the State game. This of course is their prerogative but if this is true it makes a total farce of the state game as I wonder if East and South Freo and West Perth whose players make up the bulk of the squad decided to withdraw some of their players because they have a niggle or could use the rest , we would be sending out a totally second string side. So my question is what is the point of playing these games if they are not going to be supported by all clubs?

Whatever is the truth in this is, I think at least 3 Subiaco players have been deprived of a well deserved state jumper.

And there we have it. Schofields comments about State footy could be summed up in two words "unnecessary distraction". Reminds me of some Victorian club coaches who used to make similar excuses about their players in the 70's and 80's when WA used to play the big V regularly.

I'm disappointed, I wanted to see the Subi boys mixing it with the best.

I would be surprised if the club didn't want players representing the state. last year they made a hell of a big deal about our players participation in the state game in the website and other communication. Not sure why that would be different now. I think schoey is right, we had players that had been in form when chosen in the squad and just aren't now, and I guess the selectors made their choice.

But of course, any chance to bag Subi

As much as I am thrilled that Notte and Riggio are in the team, they are not really in great form either as evidenced by the way Swans are playing at the moment and yet the bottom team with 1 win has got the same number of players in the team as the two time reigning premiers who are still equal top despite their current dip in form.

Schofields statement in the paper indicates to me that he is protecting his own clubs interests rather than looking at the big picture which he has the right to do of course but lets stop pretending that Subiaco have been hard done by with this selection and that this state team is the best possible one that could have been picked. They will still probably take care of Tasmania anyway when it is all said and done.

Yeah a bit hypocritical , wonder if we'll see the outrage from the Subi supporters and Grassy aka the cancelled game. Meh it's all a conspiracy.

In fairness with $ubis penchant for recruiting interstaters maybe their players don't want to play for a foreign state like WA
Mike the coach in question has shown his disdain for State football (no doubt heavily influenced by his former mentor Malthouse) over the last couple of years by not wanting a bar of the WA state coaching role it was only a matter of time his players followed suit!

damned if you do and damned if you don't. I recall Brad Smith got slammed by all the so called experts on FG for not playing state football when it was quite obvious that he was on one knee for the last few years of his playing career and was managing his injuries. The current Subi playing group have a lot of ongoing injuries at the moment which sees around 8 or 9 of our best 22 on the sidelines...so they wouldn't want to cop any more in a state game against Tassie...so I can see where Schofield is coming from. It sounds to me that he left it up to the individual which is why Kitchin and Heal are playing and the others aren't.

Yeah but you were outraged that a game was called off due to safety reasons which is a legitimate reason, til you then blamed Peel because it was their fault according to your coach, even though Shepherd hadn't told his side of the story. Now the same coach won't allow his pkayers to play because he has bigger fish to fry and isn't interested , who to believe eh.
