Mikeh apologies mate but TBH this state game is a blatant non event...this week many people have been whinging that Subi are rorting the selection of the team by withdrawing their players......so thus this 22 selected in many folks eyes, is not a true representation of WAFL footy talent.....eg: SD are dead last and have as many players selected as the likes of form teams as EF, SUBI and Peel......it is a joke..saying that if WA doesnt win by 8 goals at home, then one would have to agree with Collins earlier statement about annual VFL v SANFL matches.....sad if it were to happen.

Pretty hard to get interested TBH.......more interest in WA under 16 n 18 events this weekend....and to a lesser extent Aust v Eng in the rugby....actually as more info comes to light regarding drugs suspensions salary caps n player point penalties, revisiting that particular year, is quite healthy in taking my mind off the AB v Wales game...which appears to have strong similarity to the David n Goliath affair between the SD Allstars n WA 16's game.....touch wood history repeats itself.....without all the on-off field shenanigans!

And there is something more concerning. Not sure if others have noticed the lack of pre-game media interest!
Do realise there is online stories etc, but not everyone is online at home. Have had the radio turned on all week and our 2 local stations and the abc radio have not even mentioned the big state game being held! Disappointing the tv airwaves have not mentioned the state game either from what I saw. Around this area, one could almost ask, is there a state game on today?

I'm heading down for a look this afternoon. On the surface it looks like a mismatch but you never know what the Tassies will bring to the table especially with their not so secret weapon in Swoop! If it happens to be a one sided romp there are still a few individuals I will be looking out for including Darcy Cameron who the Dockers would be crazy not to at least consider drafting.
As for your comment on the rugby, having spent 4 weeks in NZ earlier this year I can attest to the complete obsession that Kiwis have with that sport. Is it a registered religion by any chance?

There is little interest in state footy because it has little relevance. Why not make it relevant? It can be done by making state footy a competition. One way to do this is to have six states in two divisions. Vic, SA, WA in division 1. QldNT, NSWACT, Tas in division 2. Each team plays 2 games, one at home and 1 away. Team on top of division 1 is named Australian state league champions. Division 2 winners take the place of third-placed Division 1 team each year. Could something like this help to re-create a bit of passion in state footy?

Anyone know the attendance? I'd expect at least 5,000. Disappointing if it's any less! I was hoping the tv "so called" sports report would report on the game. Just don't dare blink when it's on otherwise you would have missed it. The media is a bloody disgrace!

Great day at Bassendean today, crowd, atmosphere, families enjoying the fantastic scenic setting and great facilities. Beats any other local ground that has hosted the State game hands down. I overheard many positive comments about today and proud to be a WAFL supporter. Well done to the WA boys on proving we are the number one state league going around! And well done to Jye Bolton on his Simpson - well deserved as he ran himself ragged, could have raffled the medal amongst 20 odd players though
