I think ground sharing and rationalisation is the only way to go. I'm not sure Subi would be too keen to move given it cost them a couple of million to build the social premises and player facilities whereas the feral Eagles got theirs gratis. Maybe the beags will align themselves with Perth once they move to Lathlain. The current arrangement with the ferals has a few years to run but it does have a sunset date. If we had a long term visionary in the WAFC back in the late 90's we could have seen EF/SF, Subi/Claremont, EP/WP all sharing these days and maybe Perth and SD as stand alones. The Chunder doesn't count because no-one gives a stuff.

In fact on average you are ranked a distant 8th and only in front of Peel. Instead of knocking another clubs promotion of a WAFL 'International' fixture, that has inflated Subiaco's and West Perth's average attendance or Subiaco's Bark in the Park fixture why don't you implore your own club to think outside the square to work on ideas to improve your attendance. Similarly this should apply to all clubs. For too long both East and South Fremantle have basked on the attendances at Derby's, which are gradually waning. Hopefully we will see a crowd in excess of 3000 this Saturday for what should be a very competitive clash.

Spot on, the most worrying thing for SDFC is that unlike EF and SF they have absolutely no local competition in terms of a major footy draw card, EF and SF have been SMASHED by the entry of the dockers, it was a massive blow to local freo wafl footy crowds and interest.

taking that into account its incredible that ef and sf have even pulled the crowds we have in last 20 years, but its legacy that keeps up going and its dieing 20 yrs more and zip.

Of course one could also say that it is amazing SD fans have stuck fat for as long as we have having only won 1 premiership in the last 25 years and that was by only 1 point and only played in one other GF whilst SF & EF would have won at least 3 each in that same time frame and played off in at least the same amount of GFs.

Actually furthermore to my post above the interest and media exposure that 1 point win of ours generated was enormous at the time it was the talk of the town for quite some time after and gave the WAFL some much needed boost. Maybe just all we need is another bloody SD premiership to lift this flagging comp! B)

Yes there was certainly a lot of interesting media buzz after that notorious Grand Final.
Positive stories about Krakouer's brilliant performance
Negative (or was that positive) stories about Travis Casserly

Talk about dropping the entry to $10 is good but I checked on the SANFL website & their entry is $14 for adults kids under 18 free, so that hasn't hurt their attendances and as TOS mentioned, Centrals 9 flags in 11 years dominated their comp and didn't hurt attendances, Centrals have embraced their migrant dominated area (like WP are trying to do)with their catch cry "from Poms to Premiers". They also have a massive proper 7 day a week function facility, clubrooms and restaurants, plus they have pokies.

I know their are issues around pokies but they are already freely accessible in this state but unfairly confined to just one facility at Burswood. With all sports codes struggling for finances why not open up pokies to approved sporting clubs and associations, these need to be licensed and govt fees will flow from them as well as significant $$ to the clubs. They will attract people to the clubs mid-week and some may be attracted to watch the weekend games. The money flowing from them can then be used for better football departments, better facilities and most importantly better promotion & marketing. It in all or most other states so why not here?

Centrals era of dominance would have been due to a golden era of players coming out of their zone combined with smart recruiting and good coaching, not due to a huge financial advantage over the rest of the competition.
Lifting the draft age to twenty would be a huge boost to the wafl but that is out of everyone's control. Would be awesome to see the likes of Ben cousins, Michael Gardiner, Daniel rich, jaeger o meara, Jack Martin, Jesse hogan, Naitanui, Daniel wells, etc etc ... To see the best young footballers in the country playing a full two seasons of league footy ...

On Pokies Bazza if you cant deal with it dont play them,,,SIMPLE..
If we cant move to a Summer Night Comp the only other option i can see is Pokies and the wonderfull facilities that come with them.It good to read all the ideas but simply its been tough going since the 2nd AFL side arrived in WA.Theres no way Barney will give the Wafl clubs pokies without everyone else being up in arms,ie Racing Codes and all other sporting and Rsl clubs.
I still believe the Wafl has to come to the people because the people are not coming to the WAFL.The A League is building well in its Summer spot. But would get a hiding if played in Winter V Afl+Nrl.

There is simply no way you could play this magnificent WANFL game in a Western Australian summer season fellas

The heat would eventually cost a player or players their lives - it's simply too hot even at night to safely conduct it

Would we want to go against cricket which is pretty well established , and they'll protect their market to the hilt with federal backing count on it

On the Pokesters - well it would take a fair old change to legislation in WA for that to occur , not impossible but I'll bet my left doog the Greens & Do-Gooders would knock that on it's head smartly

You can blame the cocksmokers who created that scum West Coast Smeagles for the current state of the WANFL & they couldn't care less
