perhaps opposition fans don't like travelling to Steel Blue because of off field personal safety issues....the SD fans are a passionate lot, who love their club immensely, but who obviously don't like their players, club, facilities, merchandise or themselves getting the piss taken out of them....banter and footy go hand in hand...perhaps opposition fans can't be arsed going to watch their team play at Steel Blue because the banter is not taken in the jest it is given..... I can't think of any on field concerns opposition fans would have going to Steel Blue, can anyone?

Bring a dummy for Beasley Hutton day, see how far he can spit it out of his cot

He could spit it across basso without hitting a single person the crowds are so small now,

Bazza a similar question to BC: where were the South Freo supporters when you played us at Basso this season? AWOL because they most assuredly weren't at Basso suporting their unbeaten team.

Whilst I readily admit that the Swans' supporters have been down for our games this season, our home ground attendances this season have been significantly affected by the almost complete absence of opposition supporters at those games.

bugger all teams have large groups that travel in wafl anymore , we get stuff all at freo from anyone bar derbies now.

basso is a hike and not the best place on a crap weather day, stands are old and rooted and there is nothing to do there around the game before or after the game.

unlike Leederville and freo.

There is lots to do in Basso after games
Catch up with your dealer
Bum smokes at the train station
Rip some skids in the Coles carpark
Tag bus shelters
Punch on with Murray
Do a break at a pharmacy
Dine out some where fancy like Red Rooster

SwanDistricts are my 2nd Favourite WAFL Club.

Let's go over though, their Visiting Teams in Home and Away Games at Bassendean.

Peel - probably the worst travelled supporters in the competition.Understandable in early days as it was hard enough getting down there, once or twice a season. So I can imagine how hard it was getting to Perth, before the Mandurah line started.Catching a 907 Express to Esplanade Bus Port was a good option. But if you had to get to Colts,it was the 168 to Rockingham, then 920 to Fremantle.Very long trip!Car only!

Great if you were playing at Fremantle Oval, not so great if those buses did not link up.Pretty darn difficult. But now,it's a whole lot different. You can still drive, but when Hynes' Railways isn't buggering up or going through constant works on weekends(FFS),the Train Ride early in the Morning is paradise. Most of the idiots are in the land of nod,so generally it's nice and quiet.

This line can get you anywhere in comfort, peace and quiet and quickly. It is a bit of a walk to the Midland Platform, when you get off in Perth Underground, but much easier to get onto Midland Trains platform now.It is a trial going to PERTH 10 times, but everyone has 10 Away Games(except Claremont).Walk from Success Hill takes no more than 5 Minutes with a Leisurely Stroll.

So apart from the absolute diehards, why aren't Peel Fans going now?The Host Club, pure and Simple.Despite John Ditchburn's claims,it ain't Mandurah's WAFL Club,it's Lyon bloody plaything. Why would people go?If it becomes the Cockburn Crabs,Mandurah Folk may as well say to the Football Commission,"Thanks for bloody nothing!"

South Fremantle - Apathy rules here. And Bone Laziness!Cred to the Diehards as always. If you're a Doggies' Supporter,is there anything better than going to FREMANTLE Oval, then hopping on a Train to wherever and supporting your team. There's one well known South's supporter who lives nowhere near South Freo(I don't work for him,but can't disclose precisely where),but goes to most away venues,if not all.He would put the General Public to Shame, let alone South Supporters who don't travel. So why not South's fans(as opposed to Supporters)?

Is it that difficult to go to Lathlain and Bassendean?Leederville?Joondalup can improve through better bus services to Arena, but that's a matter for West PERTH and Mr Hynes to thrash out! Any chance of a blasted bus going past Kennedya Drive at all now?Why can't Shenton Avenue Buses take a Quick Detour every now and then? But Arena is South's best away venue these days,so why don't people just go?

Claremont - Home Game at Bassendean,as Showgrounds wasn't ready.May as well have played at Allen Park,Swanbourne.Might be a chance you'd outnumber the crowd on Allen Park above, where Associates play. They had a few hundred there, when they were losing.

I realise a lot of Claremont's Zone is in the Northern Coastal Suburbs(that needs reviewing),but surely there's some sort of interest from Crawley to North Fremantle?Any chance? Not much!Does it take the travels of one living far and away in the Northern Suburbs to get to the Colts by 8.30 to shame people to go?

What's the matter? Can't drag yourselves out of Claremont Quarter to go to any game, let alone away games? The trip to Bassendean shouldn't be too bad by Car or Public Transport,so what's your problem. That was your Home Game, but how many of you bothered to show up?Not counting Players, support staff and Volunteers, how many others?50?If you're lucky.

Subiaco - On top of the WAFL Ladder,on top of the Attendance Figures,so what happened?Again, does it need the tavels of one man(no spring chicken long ago)to Shame people into travelling to Away Games? He travels far and away to all venues on Public Tramsport, from the South-East to Leederville,Bassendean,Rushton Park, everywhere.A funny moment involved him going to Lathlain instead of Leederville, where there was nothing but Crickets chirping away  ,but he made it to the game, still with time to spare. ;)

So that's a Snapshot of Swans' Visiting Clubs.Swan supporters could pull up their socks a bit(ok,leave 'Em down)and get there in greater numbers. It's the Footy.Win of Lose, there's no better venue than Bassendean(except Lathlain of course ;) )to watch 30 games of Footy, plus Finals.

Atmosphere is great. There's no problem for me Freeze.

Having said all that, the Clubs MUST pump up the Publicity,if they think the Football Commission is not.And many who support the WAFL,think the Football Commission has Failed Miserably for years to Promote WAFL Footy.

98 Point Home Losses are no help, but that's a matter for my Club to Resolve. And Resolve that performance it MUST!

Rapidly!

Often!

WINNERS FILL GRANDSTANDS,LOSERS EMPTY 'EM!

AS Bob said on Sunday, War and Peace.

Interesting attendance figure at Basso, considering at best their were at tops 100-200 $ubi fans at the game why didn't they show up in the supposed droves of previous games this year??? Hmm let me see could it be- one game was on Good Friday were a lot of neutral fans like myself were there, the next was the International game where 6000 freebies that WP organise for the local community and those becoming new citizens & then last but not least the infamous dog game where whether you had 2 legs or 4 you were counted through the gate as an attendee!

All jokes aside the crowd figures are becoming alarmingly low none more so than ours where some terrible performances and some ordinary weather haven't helped.

I gave him a short version, but he merely proved my point. He's getting bone lazy and he just doesn't care anymore.

As for our attendance,counting as many of your's as I can,including playing lists,Support a Staff,Colts Parents,supporters,250 of the 1858 are your's.

1600 of our folk there. If not for bitter rival East Perth playing us next week, there'd be a whole lot less. There'll be a BIG turn up in the PIG PEN next week.Families, plenty of room around the ground to sit your kids.Feel free to look around, except the President's Lounge. If Volunteers are allowed to have a Cup of Coffee at Half Time,we haven't been told.

Lets see how ANZAC Day Derby goes.

Saturday, would of been handy if EF had won last week! And no Eagles v Swans game, but I reckon 3500.
