As stated above, one of the big problems being the so called commission needs to start taking an interest in the Wafl! Currently that's not happening. After listening to Taylors interview, one obvious thing clearly struck home. Decided to take note of what was not said, and there was not one mention of the Wafl in that interview! All their worried about is getting a finger in the new stadium pie! And building pathways here, a pathway for that, a pathway for something else! Sounds like we'll be drowning in pathways soon?
The poor media coverage is another concern that needs addressing urgently. Probably doesn't affect the people within the metro area too much. For rural people, when an abc radio Wafl broadcast goes missing it's a huge hole.
Hard to believe in this so called modern day and age, we can't even get the basics correct.

I'm not sure I agree with your comment around poor media coverage wag...in a state dominated by the big boys of AFL, the biggest broadcaster in town has 18 games on tv this year..most games get radio coverage, there's sections in both papers albeit one pagers normally...games are advertised in the sporting pages by the WAFC...results are briefly shown by 7, 9 and 10 during the sport section. given it's a second tier comp I actually think the WAFL does ok.

I agree. Even in the country it is easy to get radio coverage of games streamed live. There is no comparision to the coverage other sports receive.

In fact on average you are ranked a distant 8th and only in front of Peel. Instead of knocking another clubs promotion of a WAFL 'International' fixture, that has inflated Subiaco's and West Perth's average attendance or Subiaco's Bark in the Park fixture why don't you implore your own club to think outside the square to work on ideas to improve your attendance. Similarly this should apply to all clubs. For too long both East and South Fremantle have basked on the attendances at Derby's, which are gradually waning. Hopefully we will see a crowd in excess of 3000 this Saturday for what should be a very competitive clash.

Spot on, the most worrying thing for SDFC is that unlike EF and SF they have absolutely no local competition in terms of a major footy draw card, EF and SF have been SMASHED by the entry of the dockers, it was a massive blow to local freo wafl footy crowds and interest.

taking that into account its incredible that ef and sf have even pulled the crowds we have in last 20 years, but its legacy that keeps up going and its dieing 20 yrs more and zip.

Of course one could also say that it is amazing SD fans have stuck fat for as long as we have having only won 1 premiership in the last 25 years and that was by only 1 point and only played in one other GF whilst SF & EF would have won at least 3 each in that same time frame and played off in at least the same amount of GFs.

Yep, they have several thousand more viewers via 7 than they did on ch 2, which was down to a few thousand each weekend.

I also notice the social media coverage is far superior, there was nothing much prior to Macdonalds sponsorship.

that might apply to perth but not sdfc, even so its stuff all compared to being crushed by a AFL giant in your hood. taking fans, sponsors, media and culture with them.

One aspect of this that still has to play out fully is the issue of ground sharing. We now know that the two freo teams will share Fremantle Oval which I think will be a great boon for those two clubs. Claremont have hitched their future on their redeveloped facility, West Perth have invested too much into Joondalup to ever leave, Swans are part of the Bassendean redevelopment plan which will include the oval and Peel are....... well just where they are.

So that leaves three clubs that may have to make some decisions over the next 5 years about their long term futures. Would Subiaco consider a ground share arrangement at the state of art Claremont Oval? Obviously the Tigers would have to be open to this as well. They may like the prospect of a game there every week.

Then there is East Perth. When the Eagles build their new facility at Lathlain and assuming the alignment is still in place, it would make more sense for them to move to Lathlain as well.

So if this happens, where does that leave Perth? Would they consider swapping with East Perth and basing themselves at Leederville or would they look at a ground sharing arrangement with Swans perhaps?

Important decisions to be made by these clubs I reckon.

You made the same mistake yesterday, when you thought I was talking about FREMANTLE Oval, when in actual Fact,I was talking about the WACA.

Please try and read my posts ,more carefully, before you think you can pick my mind.

What one are you talking about?

3 clubs into Latho wont work, one has to give.

My guess is East Perth will stay at Leedy along with Subi.

WACA will just be for finals.

EF and SF at Freo
EP and S Leedy
WP Joon
P Latho
C Cl oval
SD Basso

Subi a pile of flat and offices.
