Swan42, you need to remember something about the facebook stalker - he thinks all the free ticket giveaways that boosted the WP home game is a reflection of Subi's supporters attending the game.
I wonder where they all were on Sunday ?
cant wait for his next instalment of Facebook stalking on the Swans page.

Summer footy or Winter Footy.

Playing Blistering Footy at the moment.Could they carry it through Summer?

OK, you want to keep the comp as it is DIEING , still living in 1977 are we, thinking WAFL is the ONLY show in town, come on , get out of the DELUDED zone.

People are voting with their FEET and they are not coming through the RUSTY turnstiles to antiquated VENUES to watch a SECOND tier comp any longer.

FINE by me if you want to keep the status quo but expect to be playing in front of EMPTY stands.

footy is a winter sport, why would the WAFL play in the summer when the SANFL, VFL and NEAFL, Tassie play in the winter ?

so cos nobody goes to shield cricket should they play in the winter ?

Bazza you are sounding like one of those WAFC plant's who want to get rid of the WAFL and make it a kids comp !

Yet you can't get away from the fact that attendances at Swans games have plummeted this year. TOSG is being kind when he says that Swans are 5th on aggregate attendance. In fact on average you are ranked a distant 8th and only in front of Peel. Instead of knocking another clubs promotion of a WAFL 'International' fixture, that has inflated Subiaco's and West Perth's average attendance or Subiaco's Bark in the Park fixture why don't you implore your own club to think outside the square to work on ideas to improve your attendance. Similarly this should apply to all clubs. For too long both East and South Fremantle have basked on the attendances at Derby's, which are gradually waning. Hopefully we will see a crowd in excess of 3000 this Saturday for what should be a very competitive clash.

not knocking any club, I think its great that people go to WAFL games.
however, all the experts on here are not able to come up with a solution to increase crowds outside marquee days are they ?

Custy I don't believe anyone was knocking the theme days at all the more the merrier I say to get interest in the WAFL i think you will find it was a case of a certain $ubi fans bellowing that those who attended those theme games were $ubi fans exclusively which was of course shown to be a total furphy when scanning the crowd at Basso on Sunday when there would have been 100-200 $ubi fans tops in attendance ...we were just enquiring about were did they all go in 1 week especially with their side certainties to win, sitting unbeaten on top, heading to 3 In a row?????

And as for maximising crowd numbers and general interest in the comp as I posted earlier for a start why on earth are we not playing 2-3 games this weekend on the Monday public holiday with no competition on that afternoon????

that would be you included....yourgoodself and 42 are very quick to criticise anyone and everyone about the state of crowds at WAFL games but so far, haven't thrown up any ideas or solutions. 42 in particular carries on about the small number of Subi supporters that stayed behind for the premiership ceremony at last years GF...so what? what's the solution...why make detrimental observations without coming up with ideas to fix it?

Their only form of defense is attack
They attack Subiaco's form to defend their own poor form
They attack our good attendance figures to defend their own pathetic numbers, even try to discredit official WAFL stats. And when they're loosing an argument they resort to personal insults and go digging into posters personal details.

Dropping the admission price to $10 for Adults and making it free for those under 18 would be another good start to increasing crowd numbers, let's face it WAFL footy is mostly the domain for the working class and families who can't afford AFL memberships not the silver spoons-corporate suits who are more interested in the corporate League. The boom times are over in WA it is time for the WAFC to get with it not fall further down.

WAFL Attendance (Upto and including Round 5)
Subiaco (5 games) Aggregate 14061 Average 2812
West Perth (5 games) Aggregate 13170 Average 2634
East Perth (5 games) Aggregate 9826 Average 1965
Perth (5 games) Aggregate 7396 Average 1849
South Fremantle (4 games) Aggregate 6674 Average 1668
East Fremantle (4 games) Aggregate 6666 Average 1666
Claremont (4 games) Aggregate 6650 Average 1662
Swan Districts (5 games) Aggregate 7114 Average 1422
Peel (4 games) Aggregate 4814 Average 1203

WAFL Aggregate 38186 Average 1863

Make what you want from these figures but the overall impression is that the WAFL is struggling in attracting people to games. We can all take potshots (well deserved) at the WAFC for their lack of interest in really promoting the WAFL but I believe that the most effective solutions reside with the clubs themselves, as we often see with marquee games that are promoted well.

A very tight competition with close competitive games and all teams still in the finals race as we approach September would also help raise attendances.
