There are no excuses today. A lovely sunny Saturday afternoon, 4 games which look like they will all be very competitive. The Eagles will be finished their game by the start of the WAFL fixtures. If we cant pull decent crowds to the 4 venues today, then we probably never will.

Can't find the figures on the WAFL website yet. According to the West Australian which can be inaccurate the figures were 5000 (approx.) at the Derby, 1333 at the Claremont v Peel game and 1100 at both Bassendean and Lathlain. I was very disappointed with the crowd at the West Perth v Swans game and it does appear that many of our supporters have deserted the ship.

Unfortunately Grassy even for the loyal Swans supporters who have been to every game like myself this year it has been very unwatchable football from us in 5 of our 6 games so far and the other 1 might have gone the same way if Claremont had of kicked straight early!

I reckon about 4000 at the derby, members was packed, as was stand, a lot under trees in the outter.

The other games sound like disasters attendance wise.

What is the saying? There is an elephant in the room. Three clubs have a HUGE ADVANTAGE over the rest of the clubs. The three clubs are Subiaco and the two AFL aligned ones.

Everyone knows that. The advantages that those clubs means that barring an extraordinary run of injuries they will finish in the finals. At the start of each season all club supporters want a degree of hope that their club can have a successful season and be successful in the finals. The sad reality is that this isn't the case. It is not the case in 2016; it won't be the case in 2017 and it won't be the case for the following years unless the host club alignment is scrapped and the financial advantage that Subiaco is lessened.

The upshot of this is that attendances have dropped off alarmingly. In particular and specifically the Swab Districts' attendances at games at Basso have been affected by very few visiting club's supporters attending the games.

42...in fairness our mob aren't exactly knocking the gates down to get in to games either. Sat was a poor turnout from SD supporters on a perfect day for footy weather wise and during school holidays to boot (where were the kids?)
A crowd of only 1100 with the Bill Walker stand 3/4 full of Falcons support is a poor turnout from our mob in reality. We are playing an ordinary brand of footy atm with no 'wow' factor so it's hardly surprising to see these poor turnouts.

DW No question our supporters have dropped off as well. However, if you look at our first home game for the season the attendance was poor. So it is not just because we have had a poor start to the season.

I firmly believe that a significant part of the problem is the host club alignment and Subiaco's dominance over the past decade or more because of their financial situation.

Agree with you re alignments etc mate, it's not helping that's for sure....one thing I must add is I'm not exactly seeing our club doing anything innovative to get people thru the gates.

DW I am not sure whether you have been to all the games at Basso this year (I think you said that you were OS meeting the in-laws to be) the number of opposition supporters have been extremely low for all games.

Perhaps we need to look at which clubs we play at home and in particular when they are televised on Channel Eagles. Why are we playing Subiaco three times this year?
