Are you serious Barney you were the one who said he was already on a AFL list. If you read my opening sentance slowly you will see it was in jest.

The thing is if we lose the game and I think there is a strong possibility that we will, people will be bagging our comp from pillar to post.

There's nothing wrong with the quality of player in our comp...it's just that very few people are prepared to watch it or in some cases aren't even aware that it exists.

Whether we care or not, football is growing quickly in Queensland in particular and to a lesser extent in NSW. While NT and the ACT are traditional football areas, albeit, with a small population that never allowed them to compete eye to eye with Vic, SA and WA. Combine these four areas and it will be a strong squad. We were only able to beat Queensland by 6 points at Rushton Park last time too.

So yeah, for the sake of our comp, hoping for the best.

Nicely stated re the growth areas of the AFL and the importance of the game..!!
While I believe our State Teams efforts will deliver a win on the day it will not be an easy game and it will take a team playing together to do it...

interesting to note that nobody spoke to Shepherd about any Peel players to be considered yet last night Langdon who is a mate of Monaghan confirmed that AFL recruiters had been asked who they think should be in the state team, what a joke.

That AFL recruiters that picked the team just happened to only want to see West Perth kids that they had already overlooked two or three times? Nice story Karl.

Think the West inadvertently told us about the selection of the side with their two stories today. One about Monaghan saying Nelson is a better player and using the game to increase his draft prospects. The other about how East Fremantle dominate the defensive selections, is Gavin Brown the EF defensive coach?

Is that the same quality EF defence that Swans put 20 goals past a fortnight ago?!?! :S    :pinch:

Just a suggestion

Cardy I take it that you were never in the military?. A bit early for a game of footy at 0230 (2.30am) the boys will be just coming home from the pubs and clubs. , I think I stay in bed.

Just joking mate. It should be a top game of football. Kalla are doing well with the Armstrongs..

Keep up the good work

pretty hard to stop goals when your own mids are getting pumped BH.....could be the case of EF defence did well to limit SD scoreline to just 20 goals....from the sounds of things, if Ames can get on the score sheet,SD should of kicked 40 that day.....they didn't......sadly the non selection of a few more SD mids & forwards in the team perhaps reflects this

.....no doubt like the good Sandgropers you SD boys are :P , you will be cheering those EF defenders/WP players on tomorrow when they wear the black & gold  plus those 4 allocated SF players too MO ;) ....though I do wonder if Harding was the state coach, SD were mid table and had 7 guys selected or 3 defenders selected in the state team, whether any of you SD boys would be on here bitching and moaning about the unfairness of it all.....probably not....suck it up ladies.....thems the perks of having someone in the know on the selection panel I guess......  :pinch:

Ironically Freeze, despite it allegedly being your midfield's fault, EF had 3 midfielders in the state squad compared to one from Swan Districts...

SD hardly have a star studded midfield.
