Remember the NEAFL is made up of teams run and funded by the AFL. AFLQLD, AFLNSW, AFLACT and AFLNT. WA is controlled and funded by the WAFC not AFL.
NEAFL colours listed as Blue and Red.
The WA team is listed as colours Gold and Green???

I didnt know that there had to be logic in selecting the state team, if there was why would they be asking afl recruiters who should get a state game ?

:)

On the WP website, they highlighted Rodda's ruck work as a big reason behind his selection. This despite the fact they've got a ruck-all-day ruckman in Keunen and the best pinch hitter in the comp in Notte (who Bill says he will use in this capacity). Rodda's ruck work with his average of 2 hitouts should not be a consideration in the slightest.

that same article says Rodda will be a key forward target.
if they wanted a key forward who could also ruck why wouldnt they pick the bloke on top of the goal kicking or would that mean picking a bloke in form which goes against their selection criteria ?

Apparently he's not experienced enough. Rodda's astronomical 21 games more makes all the difference. Apparently kicking 4 times the amount of goals than Rodda in 2014, having kicked more career goals than him and being the leading goal kicker in the league is not enough to make Cary a superior tall forward.

interesting to note that nobody spoke to Shepherd about any Peel players to be considered yet last night Langdon who is a mate of Monaghan confirmed that AFL recruiters had been asked who they think should be in the state team, what a joke.

That AFL recruiters that picked the team just happened to only want to see West Perth kids that they had already overlooked two or three times? Nice story Karl.

Think the West inadvertently told us about the selection of the side with their two stories today. One about Monaghan saying Nelson is a better player and using the game to increase his draft prospects. The other about how East Fremantle dominate the defensive selections, is Gavin Brown the EF defensive coach?

Seems strange that Aaron Black wasnt in the side then as he has certainly been overlooked by the AFL recruiters!!!

Is that the same Aaron Black that has already been on an AFL list? How could he have been overlooked when he has already been in the AFL system?

Wrong Black mate.. Surely your not thinking of Simon Black Barney x EF and Brisbane :(
www.wafl.com.au/players/view/2080

From the wrapup at 2013 GF

Black is also just 20 years of age having already now played 63 league games already for West Perth and now can call himself a premiership player before his 21st birthday on Christmas Day later this year.

Black had an outstanding 2013 season which saw him also represent Western Australia in the state game win over Victoria in Northam, and he had another outstanding game in the grand final.

He finished the grand final with 23 possessions and four clearances as he continues to build his reputation as one of the very best emerging talents in the WAFL.

Jason Salecic is now a dual premiership player with West Perth and a premiership captain, and he was especially happy to see Black perform well on the big stage, and has no doubt that he and Nelson both deserve an opportunity in the AFL.

There's an Aaron Black from Peel who plays for North Melbourne. So yes, wrong Aaron Black.

Jeepers, a player so good West Perth supporters thinks he gets mixed up with Simon Black yet Monaghan couldn't find a spot for him in the state side?

We need to send Frank Stockley around to his place this weekend to tell him he doesn't have to put up with that treatment and he should come to a club where he will be loved.
