Every Council that has WAFL tenants will be submitting their interest in hosting finals if it has the facilities up to the standards required
it would surprise if there weren't at least five councils very interested and then there's the WACA that haven't piped up or figured at all

Of course it wasn’t shared. Why would you share the best available with the shitholes (including the 2 Freo grounds). If they’re serious about not using Optus, then they have to now share it around to the few good venues. Who’s your president....Eddie McGuire?

Was it any surprise Fremantle Oval was chosen for this years GF venue when the SF CEO was chair of the committee looking for the alternate venue?!?!?!

I still believe this will be a one off and return to Optus next year, assuming we are in stage 5 by next year. Until there is a redeveloped WACA with 20k to 25k capacity, it should be at Optus. If the WAFC refuse to do that then it should be shared around grounds that have a min capacity of 10k, which excludes Lathlain, Claremont and Rushton, until the WACA is ready, assuming it will get redeveloped. Government should be looking at the WACA as an economy, jobs boosting project, if the WAFL game of the round and all finals are played there plus local, shield and smaller scale international cricket like tours by Bangladesh and other small cricket nations, plus the womens game, it will be a well used venue and justify the spend.

SS I have posted on here before the latest WACA redevelopment in to a boutique venue will have a capacity of only 10,000 not 20 or 25k!
Perth Stadium should be the ONLY venue for WAFL GFs!

Not much logic in that - on one hand saying Subi was the biggest, so no sharing, yet now they want to share it with postage stamps like Claremont and Lathlain even though other venues like Fremantle and Leederville hold more than double...weird!I've no problem with sharing with Leederville or Bassendean but some are write offs.

Yep spot on - I reckon this will be a one off, but dont forget the real financila pain will hit next year, so maybe they will be tight with the cash for another year, but maybe not - I see it same as you - a one off and then Optus until the WACA is ready.

What's you suggestion? we were within a bees dick of Joondy - the right choice has been made for this year. Hopefully we get a bigger more suitable long term venue, but hey who knows if it works down at Fremantle and the council and others get interested maybe a major redevelopment might mean a 20k capacity and a new league HQ in Fremantle.

the one thing that is absolutely certain is that we have to find a neutral venue mate - I find it hard to believe the state gov didn't demand footy be played there
it is a football stadium after all - pointlessly no good it sitting there empty when there's a Grand Final hey
