Interestingly just recently the actual WAFL players who put on the show each and every week/year were asked where their preferred WAFL GF venue was and all to a man replied Perth Stadium.
In fact as I have posted for a while now many of the players thought moving it to a suburban venue would demean the event and the occasion and for many of the WAFL players the GF would be the only time many of them would get the opportunity to play at the State's Premier Sporting Venue!
If that is what the players want (the one's putting in their time and effort for 4/5 days a week for 10 months of the year) then it should be listened too as without these best players outside of the afl then the WAFL becomes just another amateur level of footy and Taylor and co have put it well on that path with this latest offering!

It seems a few on here have missed the bus.

EOI where put out weeks ago to all WAFL clubs and local councils as to who wanted to host the WAFL GF weeks ago , Optus has bee off the table for weeks, there were 3 bids, Joondalup, Leederville and Fremantle, Fremantle had the best bid, and as I posted a week or so back SFFC emailed all members saying the club and FCC would be going hard to get the game and put a good case up...so no idea what rock this lot have been under.

So Congratulations to Fremantle for winning the bid.

the other thing is Optus made it clear they would not allow more than one games max on the day so that created an issue.

The Womens Grand Final venue is yet to be decided - maybe Basso should have a crack.

100k required to cover costs?
20k attendance?
That’s only $5pp - whats a GF ticket cost?
Add in the revenue from the corporate box packages that Optus can support, that local grounds can’t.
Whether it half full or not Optus provides much better amenities and viewing for a spectators that WAFL grounds can’t match

Jeez they must “lose” a heap of dough on the test matches there each season. Way less than half capacity with way bigger player match payments - and for four to five days straight!

The WACA own their ground, it doesn't pay a cent to play a game there besides over heads, if they hire it out they make a quid then its up to the contractor to sell enough tickets to cover their own costs. Its a commercial decision of say a Band, not enough ticket sales - no show.

yeah right - with a few million pouring in for the media rights to broadcast ever ball, they would be way in front.
