But also that's no different to going to the shops but no one is against that.

Mark said Bunnings should put the sausage sizzle back on but Bunnings told Mark off because they can't maintain social distancing under the marquee umbrella.

What a strange place we live in today.

Yep its all BS now, farcical...

The whole point of shops is its supposed to be essential to buy food etc.. and its not really a mass gathering anyway yes crowded but not in the same way, standing in langley park for 1 0r 2 hrs is literally the same as a WAFL ground , infact its heap more crowded and "dangerous". they will get more than 2000 clowns there.

Im going to email bomb Mc Gowan about this, get 2000 to games ASAP.

Would Swans or Perf get that many normally?

Swans v Perth games regularly get 2000 plus. Crowds will flock to WAFL games unless full crowds can go to AFL games here to get their footy fix. I reckon we will see crowds up to 1000 more than we usually get once it starts, whenever that will be. If there is no community spread here I think they will bring the August 1 date forward and allow crowds but they might have to cap it at 2000.

Was forwarded an email today from the WAFC which stated that scratch matches were not permitted until restrictions are relaxed to Phase 4 - it also suggested that Phase 4 was expected to commence late June/early July.

Plenty of commentary around Phase 4 gathering numbers being 500, possibly more for outdoor venues.

2000 would be OK for now, but I firmly believe there is now NO credible case the government has to maintain any restrictions at all...its GONE.

WAFL left behing like idiots once again,,,August! what a disgrace

A massive opportunity missed to get a whole new crew along to WAFL with no AFL.

Then there is McGowan who has now allowed two mass gatherings with no enforcement, during a so called State of Emergency...utter BS.

Yet the crowds at WAFL are not allowed over 300.

He should resign.

And apparently the Amateur League will be commencing sooner than first thought. One would be presuming with crowds watching?
...We can witness crowds at demonstrations (whom don't give a toss about social distancing or being careful) and too many people frequenting other public places.
Yes the mixed messaging from officialdom is now pure silliness!

But Peter the Caped Crusader from subi will be able to sort it all out surely!!

Don’t blame McGowan for not caring about the WARFL., as he calls it, blame the administrators who have not spoken up for us despite, in many cases, bring elected by us to do so.

Not good enough.

AUGUST!!! FMD.

True about the WAFL, they should of been way more on top of this ,,but you cannot have one without the other, MCclown makes the rules, the WAFL go with them, if these idiots in labor had any clue about WA sport and WAFL they would of reached out as a priority to get the thing moving and more importantly Mcgowan should of announced this weekend a total abolition of local restrictions.

Say what you like about about Barnett but he would of been in constant touch with Claremont and WAFL needs through this.

I heard our State Minister for Sport interviewed on the radio today mostly around the leaked WAFC salaries document (of which yes the $9 million paid to WAFC staff does seem over the top) and I was dumbfounded by some of his comments around the WAFL.
He couldnt believe it cost the WAFC $30 million a year to run a "mid tier league" as he termed the WAFL.
Firstly Mick the WAFL is the second best/biggest Australian Rules Competition in the world at least arguably with the SANFL.
Secondly Mick I think you will find that $30 million a year is used to run ALL levels of football in WA not just the WAFL, in fact I dont even think half of that would be used on the WAFL competition alone.
Thirdly Mick if you did not know the above 2 points about our biggest sport in WA/Australia im not sure you are cut out to be a Sports Minister!

Let's be honest Mick Murray is a dill. He's on the way out so he couldn't give a toss about the WAFL and he clearly knows SFA about it anyway. What is it with sport administrators in this country, they are nearly all halfwits??

It's great that a spotlight has been shone on these frauds at the WAFC. Now the government needs to force change and liberate some of the $9m soaked up by the bureaucracy and return it to WAFL and community footy. This is a classic case of the disease of affluence and its a big problem for lots of not for profits. Stop building fkn empires out of footy.

Ammos had originally hoped for a start date of 14 June, this has been revised to 4 July for a 9 game season and 3 week finals series.

Junior footy has also been advised they will recommence from Saturday 18th July.

Given that the WAFC oversees all 3 levels, it makes me wonder if the WAFL clubs opted for the later start and greater chance larger crowd numbers would be allowed.

I guess Fraser could get a permit from Perth to go back to TA for some match practice before the WAFL starts up a few weeks later....but then again if TA get off to a flyer, wouldn't blame the fella one iota for staying put at TA with assured finals footy beckoning....

On a serious note though, if the amateurs get going before the WAFL then that really sums up the incompetence of all concerned running the WAFL sadly....

Don't worry freezin Fraser has been guaranteed September action with the Dees in 2020. Hopefully that extends to October. ?
