Other sports like the NRL have restarted without crowds. Horse Racing has been going on without crowds for three months. The WAFL could have started now without crowds. The issue is that the WAFC wait to see what the AFL does and then follow.

If crowds are bigger than expected, say 3000 per game because it's the only footy in town, then you can play more games.

Taylor needs to get an assurance from McGowan that crowds are a goer.

You can't plan a season on "If's" and crowds doubling to 3000 is a very big if given 300 has just been allowed.

Clubs have been told to budget on no crowds and if that changes significantly then they should enjoy the extra revenue and bank it.

No use comparing NRL, AFL or Horse Racing to the WAFL - totally different income streams that allow them to operate without crowds.

Oh well that’s that then. Much like vlandys said when he was told Melbourne racing was king and couldn’t be touched and that the nrl couldn’t start on 28/5. It can’t be done, end of story.

How about the wafl explore new streams of revenue? Like tv when no other footy is on? You reckon the derbies on Monday as a double header wouldn’t have been the top rating show in wa, maybe elsewhere.

Nup can’t be done, could not possibly play a game of wafl til AUGUST!!!

Agree. No intent here. The odds of the virus circulating silently for months now in WA are presumably very small. Combine that with being outside and social distancing and there must be minimal risk in 2000 to 3000 crowds. We can't hide from life waiting years for a safe, proven vaccine.

I suppose we can hide for another 7 weeks, but i really don't see the point.

and all being responsible citizens the 2000 -3000 will all practice social distancing
- entering the ground
- lining up for food
- going to the loo
- exiting the ground
- sit in the rain rather than gather under a shelter

and Trump will make America Great again.

Don’t go to the zoo on Saturday RSM, you might catch coronavirus in all that fresh air

I don't think you have a grasp on how the virus is transmitted or are you assuming that all 2000-3000 people entering the ground, staff. players and patrons are all going to sanitize their hands on entering and the ground seats and all have been sanitised before anyone enters.
Are you going to take the names and address of all that enter the ground.
If not sanitised are you assuming that no-one including children are going to touch their face or put their hands anywhere near their mouth.
You are less likely to catch the air borne outdside, but that is not the only way to catch it.

Better pass this info on to the govt before the zoo re-opens on Saturday since they run the zoo and they cleared it to open.
Let me know next week how many people caught this virus you believe is in the community from being outside at the zoo

You are assuming the virus is out there in the community. What evidence do you have there is? I don’t think we have ever had any community spread in WA. All our cases have come directly off boats and international and interstate air travel and those who have come into contact with them, close family or friends and first responders. Not sure this virus has gone beyond that.

Testing has basically been available to anyone for the past month and the Covid Safe app has been out around that time also. The increased testing and the Covid Safe app hasn’t revealed any community spread that I know of. Maybe anyone entering a WAFL game must show they have the Covid Safe app active on their mobile phone before they enter a ground.
