Some of the classic WAFL H&A games of the past that have stuck in my memory that would be great to view again were-

SD vs SU at Bassendean Oval 1979 -Record score game
SD vs PH at Lathlain Park 1979 -Possibly the changing of the guard for both clubs
SD vs WP at Leederville Oval 1980 -Simon Beasley kicked the winning score very late
SD vs CL at Claremont Oval 1981 -Record crowd for Claremont Oval at the time
SD vs EP at Perth Oval 1981, 82 or 83 (Leon Baker turned the game on its head in last qtr)
SD vs SF at Bassendean Oval 1983 -The Stephen Michael Express Game
SD vs EF at Bassendean Oval 1984 -SDFC 50th Anniversary Game

BH, I guess the ultimate spectacle would be SD vs SD.

I did see SD vs Collingwood a couple of times JS, once in 1982 at VFL Park and another time pre season in either 1985 or 1986 at Bassendean Oval in which the real Black & White club prevailed in both games.

Beas that SD v P game at Lathlain was a real close struggle all day (unlike our games for the next 4 years). Swans won by less than a goal. You make a good point about the changing of the guard. We were dismal after that and SD swept to GFs and flags.
I think Neesham was reported in that game for elbowing Alan Johnson in the jaw. Also remember Boucher inflicting some damage on Rosbender.

Tiges versus South round one ‘84? Farken you bewdy this is great news. Wonder how much material Sean has got his hands on, exciting. Also John Townsend is reliving classic Wa footy stuff EVERY day in the West in a section called “WA footy 101”. So far it’s been Gero, and today it was Perth’s epic 1955 flag win over Old Easts.

Watching the 1978 GF atm. Absolutely loving it. Arthur Marshall and John Rogers commentating. Gary Gibellini and the buzz for Perth. Barry Cable and John Hayes for East Perth. So many outstanding players. No defensive zones. Just entertaining end to end footy with heaps of one on one contests. Nirvana! Trying to spot myself in the crowd at the Subiaco end. Fat chance!
