So do these "150 eligible players" not have to train? Good to see according to this 144 dont show up to training each week. I would also love to know how a club with 150 players have 4 sides? Kingsway have 5 sides and 120 players..

From my experience with football all over WA and Indigenous players this is pretty common occurrence at clubs, especially in the country. If the young blokes think they dont have a chance they just leave. We had it at Southern River years ago when we recruited an aboriginal player and he brang down 4-5 gun mates. Then halfway through the year he didn't want to play anymore so they all left. Probably same thing at Kelmy but on a bigger scale.

They only had 15 players in the ressies but still managed to kick 6 somehow. They did not supply an umpire which caused some issues. League were well and truly flogged. Going go be a long season for them it seems that is if they don't fold before then!!

While I am not close to everything, from talking to people who know, the things that folow are closer to the truth than what has been said sofar on this thread.

Firstly the intra-club practice game didn't go ahead due to a last minute notice from the local council that the club couldnt play on our oval due to urgent ground maintenance.
Next the club has a current list of over 150 eligible senior players and all that is happenning is that alot of those players from previous years are taking time to register for 2017.
Apart from 2 or 3 required players that the club did not wish to lose, the rest of the clearances are players who the new football department did not want back at the club,a number of 3rds players from 3 years ago that were deemed not good enough to play B Grade and some colts from last year. The club has plenty of numbers on its books (what you see on Sporting Pulse is irrelivent) and there is nothing like 33 required players who have applied for clearances.
Lastly at the beginning of this year the club had over 60 colts age players eligible to play colts in 2017. Despite un Australian pressure being placed on many of those colts from local clubs like Roleystone, armadale, Cannin Vale and Gosnells that all know they should not be trying to poach our colts, and should know better only 5 or 6 colts have bene cleared. Our club has heard on good authority at least one of those clubs has promised any Colts player who transfers from Kelmscott will not have to pay fees in 2017.

Our club is a very proud and historical club being first formed in 1898 and has put up with nothing but false gossip and rumour for the last 5 or 6 yrs (mainly from arrogant Northern and western suburbs clubs)and has deliberately kept quiet to avoid giving credability to such rubbish.

There is a new committee and new coaches that have cleaned out a small group of troublemakers that every club has from time to time and is working hard to do the right thing on and off the field.

All I think is fair is that the club be given a fair go.

How'd your 60 colts players go today? What's that? You forfeited Colts and looks like your 150 strong League and Ressies probably should have too.

Same shite from Kelmscott as last year...If you talk a good game you need to play a good game. Or in the case of your Colts at least turn up and play a game...

IG99, not sure that your first post about the cancellation of the colts game is 100% accurate. My mail is that there was soime uncertainty all week however as at Thursday night there were still discussions going on with the colts boys and the feeling was that a side would come together ready for Saturday morning. Things seemed to have changed after training on Thursday night, throughout Friday and even into early Saturday morning. Over that period, the outstanding fees of 9 colts players were paid, 5 of those by Gosnells and Armadale, and those 9 were cleared. This led to the whole thing falling apart late Friday night.

Even though this is really not acceptable to Mount Lawley, the strong word is that Mt Lawley officials and the WAAFL were notified by no later than 8.30 Sat morning by which time, after some early morning ring arounds, it was clear the other colts players had been affected by the clearence rush and the whole thing fell apart.

Agree with you IG99 that it is still not acceptable but it is important the truth gets put up on this site, not inaccurate gossip and rumour.

Tiger Tales and Sneaky_101, as mentioned in my earlierpost, there were 60 colts age players eligible to play colts at the beginning of this year. From what I can gather after being brought to the club as a group at the beginning of 2016 from local Y12 teams who were too old for Y12s, including the club's own junior team, and having a great beginning to 2016, the wheels fell off due to some very poor management of the group by the then senior coaches. This led to the large number of those colts not wanting to return in 2017 and it seems to me the new group at the club just ran out of time to try and turn them around. This has not been helped by local, lower level clubs such as Roleystone (E1), Armadale (C4)and Canning Vale (C2) poaching a number of the key colts from 2016 to play lower grade Senior football! Go figure! Also two other local lower grade clubs, Forrestdale (E1) and Gosnells (C2) have grabed another 10 or so to play in their colts, with Gosnells not only paying their fees owed to Kelmscott from 2016 but also telling them they would not have to pay any fees in 2017.

In terms of the clearances, the only reason colts players were being denied a clearance was because they owed fees from 2016. It turns out that a large number of the 2016 colts had not payed any fees by the time 2016 finished.

IG99 it is fair to say that despite the flurry of clearances in the days leading up to round 1, and after those clearances have now gone through, the club still has 39 eligible colts players on their books(including at least 7 playing WAFL colts on permits) and so I suppose should have still been able to field a team against Mt Lawley. I think unfortunately what happenned last year with the way they were managed left too many with a sour taste in their mouth and at this stage the new coaches just couldn't get them back on board in time for round 1.

Tiger Tales and Sneaky, I haven't been able to get enough information yet to answer some of the good points raised by you both regarding clearance numbers and events at the senior level last year. I will keep digging around and get something up as soon as possible to ensure that the untrue gossip and rumours that are in this thread are properly dealt with.

Sneaky hope your mob Stirling go well this year apart from when you play us. One question for you though - why arent you as aggressive at Maddington as you are at Kelmscott? I see they beat you guys by almost 10 goals on the weeknd with a team that has at least 6 very well paid players playing for it. I don't get why you wouldn't be sticking it to them in the same way as you do with Kelmscott?

Tiger Tales I might haave missed which club you said you were connected with or follow? Who is your mob and how did they go yesterday? Why also are you so aggressive towards Kelmscott - has someone there done something to you personally in the past or is it a club to club thing? It just doesn't make sense to me why you are so negative about Kelmscott.

Well back to work tomorrow morning unless I've won Lotto over the weekend!

Let's all try and be as positive as we can!

For the love of the game
