You're obviously from south of the river.
Us people from north of the river walk around with halo's on our heads and shit out rose petals.

Nah in all seriousness, I have played at 4 amateur clubs since colts and I have never known an inmate within any of the teams.

I've had a couple.
Some of which you'd never tell.

yolo - as you said you have played with 4 clubs and never known to have played with an inmate. Very few would stick their hand up and say that they are a former inmate or addict due to the stigma that goes with it. At the end of the day, Swans had to jump through hoops to get into the WAAFL (there is an article about it). Why should the whole team be punished for one mans actions, would everyone on here removed their side if one of their player was red carded.

That's where your mentality is wrong southside. Why do you think they should be treated like everyone else? They are already lucky to be there.

If this really hit the fan which Wanneroo do not intend, you know the public opinion would be against them.

At the end of the day this thing shouldn't happen full stop! If it was any place other then a footy field it would be a criminal offense, but the Tribunal fail to treat it with the same seriousness and that's why this will still happen.

It will take someone dying from a king hit on the field for it to change, but why does someone have to die?!

And our guy was in a very very bad way, 5 minutes to come around, couldn't remember the whole day and was barely breathing while out!

Brereton copped a good one once.
I am dead against the whole team being punished for this.

endorphn - whilst i am not doubting that your player was in a bad way after the hit/knock - why wouldnt the player and or the club take it further. Obviously you feel strongly about it so turn it into a legal matter and let the police handle it. Atleast your player will know that his club and his team mates are willing to fight for him to the end.

Southside the club has done everything it can.

We understand the prisoner was charged internally.

The player who was hurt is a tough nut his wishes were not to pursue criminal charges but hopes as a player the book is thrown at the guy and his words were that he doesn't want what happened to him happen to anyone else.

Still early days but the club has done all it can and are waiting on the league to make their ruling.

Hopefully they treat it with the same seriousness. I wish I recorded the game so people understand how bad he was, my players and wife who was treating him are still traumatized by the shape he was in, it was the worst thing we had seen on a footy field.

what swans districts does to their own player in regards to discipline would have no bearing on legal proceedings. Whilst the prison can remove the player from programs etc but he cant be charged without someone pressing charges against him. Before everyone says i am from swans - i am not but have a mate who works for acacia so i asked him the question. If my partner and or players were traumatized by the event of the weekend, then it would be common sense to take it to a legal proceeding no matter what the WAAFL rules on this matter

Everyone agree or disagree??

In two seasons of E grade football, I am yet to see a red card, I can only recall one yellow as well.

That team was allowed into the competition under strict conditions. In my mind an incident like this breaks those conditions, if there are no consequences what's to deter them from someone else doing it again.

For these guys playing football is a privilege not a right, they breached the terms under which they were allowed into the competition and therefore that privilege should surely be removed.

E grade football is purely social, and from the last two years of experience has been played in exceptionally good spirit, incidents like this deter the purely social footballer from coming down and catching up with friends for a kick and a beer.

There is little parallel to draw between someone that has served their time and their debt to society to people that are still doing it. If their time has been served, there punishment has been fulfilled and hopefully a lesson learnt. Surely you understand that this group is going to be at a higher risk of something like this happening than any other team, if it's happened once, it could happen again, my simple argument is why risk it at all.
