Billy Bevan I remember that tragic event involving the bull creek player but from all reports including an association report the bump was fair and legal. All clubs had their chance to not have the swan side in the league but the vote never got the numbers so keep trying cause it wont change.
Endorphin. although the act yesterday was an act of gutlessness from the swan player i think you are over reacting a few years ago a wanneroo colt got king hit behind play by a gossies player. also the league coach copped a hit from a Melville player but where were you wanting those 2 clubs kicked out of the league?? I feel your club would not like this post and you should hope they dont read this.

Sounds like that player at the swans will extend his stay in prison.
Also no more footy for him for the rest of his life.
Not sure the whole team should pay that price.
Very unfortunate that the best team lost on the day.

Endorphn wrote: Hi Highpants,

The game wasn't called off, just stopped for 30 mins while an ambulance was called to take our best player off to hospital after he was king hit by Swan's #10.

The dirty disgrace of a human being was also yellow carded earlier in the match.

At half time we were 1 point up, we came out and kicked the first two of the third in the first 9 minutes and it was safe to say were all over them. After the second goal as the ball was being brought back to the middle, number 10, unprovoked, decided to king hit from behind our best player #6 (he won our b&f this year by 30 votes, also has a wife and three kids).

He was red carded. But the umps didn't call off the game, but decide we all wait half an hour while out guy was lying unconscious on the field for an ambulance to arrive. My wife who was our water person lucky is a nurse, she said he took 5 minutes to come to and was hardly breathing!

Anyway after my boys saw one of there own laying cold on the ground and then being put into an ambulance they were expected to continue playing football. We had no mid rotation now as we also suffered an injury early in the game, but under our stupid rules Swans were able to replace the carded player!

We were very flat afterwards, swans were running all over us. They took the lead and got out to 14 points before we courageously came back with the final two goals to lose by 2 points.

It doesn't feel right! No one can say that didn't affect the game from then on!

Being the prison team why wasn't the game called off?!
I will be fighting that they never play again, and if you say that's silly I leave you with two questions,

WHAT IF IT WAS YOU THAT GOT HIT? & WHAT IF THE PERSON DIED?

I don't care about missing the GF, I just want justice because this is wrong!

Cheers for clearing that up endorphin, hope the bloke pulls up ok.
Have to agree with you there, these guys are on good behavior and being allowed to go out and play on the weekends is a privilege not a right.
Hopefully the guy is disciplined by both the league and his prison, from all accounts these sort of incidents aren't exactly isolated either so hopefully there is a review into the team at the end of the year.

On another note interested to hear who'd be your tip to take out the flag next week?

I think Rossmoyne, even if we got up I would say we would've struggled, still doesn't mean I don't want to be there. But I would be without my B&F due to the KO yesterday and I had another key mid popped his shoulder out. But i am not a fan of either side.

What happened was a disgrace. Not just because it was the prison team but for any player to do that. King hitting someone should just be an automatic life ban no matter who you are. There is no place for it and if you want to go out punching blokes then get into a boxing ring.
The guy is a gutless piece of shit who is a waste of tax payers dollars.

Endorphn, you should be extremely proud of yourself and your team with the year you have had. Clearly the best THIRDS side in the comp and you deserved to be in the gf next week.

Thanks Yolo. I am proud, my boys were great this year, hopefully the WAAFL do what needs to be done.

Shawborn, our team was punished when our best player was put into an ambulance half way threw the third quarter, we were 21 points up having kicked the last 3 goals!

Just a quick one does anyone know the rules about the game being held up for more then 30 minutes then the game should be called off? Our game was stopped for more then 30 minutes, and I reiterate we were 21 points up!

This seems ridiculous, both times we played Swan Districts it was a clean game, probably aided as there was little to no competition raised by our side, however we went into the game being told that there were safety regulations put in place to ensure the game was played completely fairly.

We were told by our coach that if any of their players were red carded their side would be suspended from the competition for the rest of the year, and any player yellow carded would be removed from the side for good.

Unfortunately with this team there is a higher risk of this type of behaviour because of their backgrounds, regardless of if they have been well behaved in prison or not, they are there for a reason, and playing football on a Saturday and getting to see their families and friends for the day is a privilege not a right.

I understand that I may have been only one renegade player, but I would argue that the entire team has to be punished as every member of that team would have been told that they are on a tight leash and if anything goes wrong there would be large consequences. The largest of consequences is for them to be removed from the league and either let Quinns fight it out with Rossmoyne this week, or simply hand the flag to Rossmoyne.

If there is no response from the league, and I have no influence on this all I can tell you is that I will not be fronting up to play them next year, why as an armature footballer, (and a poor one at that) should I pay my $20 to run the risk of loosing a week of work, a broken jaw or worse so that people are serving their debt to society can get a Saturday to see their families. I'll spend my time elsewhere.

Why would it be Quinns to play Rossmoyne?

jezza - why in your opening comment state that both times you played swans it was a clean game then to say you wont show up next year to play them. Whilst I dont condone the behaviour of the player on the weekend but keep in mind that its one persons action. I ask a question to all those on this site, how many players from your club have been red carded this year and how many have served time in a jail or have a criminal record. There wouldnt be many clubs in WAAFL could say that the dont have a player who is an inmate. My final comment is this - we (all on this site) have no influence on the WAAFL so why dont we comment on the positive aspects of our game and leave the negative stuff to Geoff Palmer and his crew
