Probably a fair comment Godzilla, but the heavy rain due Friday/Saturday could make for a very even match. Just hope the drainage up there works better than at some other grounds. Really glad we are not at Swan Valley this weekend!!!

Disappointing lack of comments of late.

Thought Godzilla may have come and said hello while we were up at Noranda?

Perhaps, with the game being out on their back paddock, in a howling gale, with no shelter provided for either team from the rain and hail, he/she didn't want to venture out there?

The ladder as it stands:

1 Coolbinia West Perth 14 12 2 0 0 0 931 522 178.35 48
2 Gosnells 14 10 4 0 0 0 996 525 189.71 40
3 Noranda 14 10 4 0 0 0 1207 638 189.18 40
4 Brentwood Booragoon 14 7 5 1 0 0 917 675 135.85 34
5 Swan Valley 14 8 5 0 0 0 861 608 141.61 32
6 Ellenbrook 14 7 7 0 0 0 819 690 118.70 28
7 Jandakot 14 6 7 1 0 0 628 699 89.84 26
8 Piara Waters 14 5 9 0 0 0 665 1022 65.07 20
9 Osborne Park 14 3 11 0 0 0 471 822 57.30 12
10 Bassendean 14 0 14 0 0 0 97 1341 7.23 0

The ladder is still very close in the middle, with teams from 4th to 8th still a mathematical chance of making finals.

Piara Waters didn't do themselves any favours last Saturday, with 7 goals kicked against them in the 1st quarter. Flooding the backline slowed this down as the game went on, but made it almost impossible for them to score.

I can't do a 'Mr Mysterious', but my thoughts for this week:

Every likelihood of a mostly fine day.

Brentwood Booragoon vs Bassendean
Win on forfeit for Brentwood Booragoon. Good percentage booster, but only relevant for Jandakot due to their draw earlier in the season.

Jandakot vs Noranda
Must win for both clubs - Jandakot needs to win to help make finals, Noranda needs to win to get back into 2nd place and home final territory. Jandakot won the last clash and are improving, but Noranda should win - suspect it will be close.

Swan Valley vs Coolbina West Perth
Swan Valley have taken huge steps since losing the last clash convincingly. Could be an interesting game in the mud. Wouldn't be surprised if Swan Valley won this, but will pick Coolbina West Perth in a much closer game than last time.

Osborne Park vs Gosnells
Easy win to Gosnells last time and I expect a similar result. Osborne Park are now playing only for pride (being out of finals contention) but will still cause sides above them some issues and should not be taken lightly.

Piara Waters vs Ellenbrook
Ellenbrook won convincingly last time around, but this time it's at Piara Waters' home ground. Tiny, tiny ground, difficult to play and Piara Waters must win. Will pick Ellenbrook - just.

Well, some interesting results yesterday.

Jandakot 13.6 (84)
Noranda 5.5 (35)

Jandakot by 49 points over Noranda, repeating the result from the last round. A result I didn't really expect and a margin I wouldn't have picked in a fit. Makes it hard for Noranda to get back into 2nd spot. Could Jandakot make finals?

Swan Valley 9.6 (60)
Coolbina West Perth 6.3 (39)

Not totally surprised as the Valley have been on the up. This will set up week's game for them against Gosnells as a cracker.

Osborne Park 1.6 (12)
Gosnells 16.20 (116)

Not an unexpected result though the margin may be. Osborne Park have some good talls but lack in smaller, on-ground players. If they can pick some of these up over the off season, they will be force next year.

Piara Waters 5.3 (32)
Ellenbrook 18.9 (117)

Much bigger margin than I had expected. We found Piara Waters small ground difficult to play, Ellenbrook obviously didn't.

My calculations only

1 Coolbinia West Perth 14 12 2 0 0 0 970 582 166.67 48
2 Gosnells 14 10 4 0 0 0 1112 537 207.08 44
3 Noranda 14 10 4 0 0 0 1242 722 172.02 40
4 Brentwood Booragoon 14 7 5 1 0 0 1007 676 148.96 38
5 Swan Valley 14 8 5 0 0 0 921 647 142.35 36
6 Ellenbrook 14 7 7 0 0 0 936 722 129.64 36
7 Jandakot 14 6 7 1 0 0 712 734 97.00 30
8 Piara Waters 14 5 9 0 0 0 697 1139 61.19 20
9 Osborne Park 14 3 11 0 0 0 483 938 51.49 12
10 Bassendean 14 0 14 0 0 0 98 1431 6.85 0

Piara Waters are now out of contention for this year. Pretty good result for their first year with a Thirds team. Expect them back next year bigger and better.

Next weeks games

Ellenbrook vs Osborne Park

Coolbinia West Perth vs Bassendean

Gosnells vs Swan Valley

Brentwood Booragoon vs Jandakot

Noranda vs Piara Waters

Whilst Coolbina West Perth have a guaranteed spot in the finals, all other spots are still open to teams from 2nd to 7th, though Jandakot will have to have results go their way.

I don't think jandakot will make the top 5 Birdman... well not unless their league and reserves are to have another bye for the next 3 weeks.... and did not help losing our 3 key backman sat morning and our fullforward not being able to play but... that's no excuse you gotta play with the 22 players you have and against whatever the opposition put on the park against you... you can't control those things and we were just no where near good enough against the jandakot football club !

Agree Godzilla.

Next week for them is huge and an absolute must. Get over that hurdle and they are still 'alive' - lose and they are gone for the season.

Should that happen, there will still be 6 clubs looking for 5 places.

Coolbina West Perth, Gosnells an Ellenbrook are probably safe, courtesy of forfeit wins over Bassendean.

My final 5 prediction (in order) is:

Coolbina West Perth
Gosnells
Noranda
Ellenbrook
Swan Valley

Not writing Brentwood Booragoon off, but the draw with Jandakot last round has probably hurt both teams.

Yeah think your on the money with the top 5 I can't see Brentwood knocking off coolbinia and gosnells at home in the last rd ... big ask .... I think the finals are gonna be close with some cracker games which could go either way with how close the season has become.... gonna be interesting at the very least mate

Looking forward to finals. We went out in straight sets 2 years ago and don't want a repeat this time around.

Agree there will be some good and probably close games. All the teams are a chance to win games, including Brentwood Booragoon should they make it.
