The talk is over the voting has started. what are peoples tips for the result,

For mine Clinton will win fairly easy, not that I think that's a particularly good thing. I think the Democrats have the on the ground organisation and movement to get folks to the polls and that's what it takes over there.

Personally I hope Trump wins it will shake the globe for the better. This so called globalization is a con. Politicians love it because it makes them lazy fuckers that sit on their fat arses waiting for someone like China to get our economy moving while in the meantime real jobs and industries vanish into thin air while the rich become mega rich and the cost of living gets completely out of control.

That's what's got up Trumps nose and he sick of the trade deficit to China and wants to bring manufacturing and jobs back to America. And Australia should be doing the bloody same. Record high cost of living and no real jobs unless its through infrastructure spending.

I wouldn't trust Clinton as far as I could throw her. Lock her up....... Lock her up! Build that wall..... Build that wall. Gotta luv him.
Get on your bike.

Looks like the Democrats are a lot larger than the Rupublicans and buy and sell them a few times over.
If I lived in the USA probably would vote Democrat 9\10 times. But to me Hillary is a crook would never vote for her.
Like DD comments about free trade.Hillary will think twise about the TTP as Trump and Bernie don't like it.

She is evil personified. She treats her security staff like shit and has a filthy mouth, among other crap that I won't mention here...big brother may not like it. She has 2 faces - one for the public and the real one. I worry about world peace with her. Donald Trump would make a better President for reasons similar to DD's. He won't step too far out of the norm....the CIA keep their presidents in check.
Unfortunately I believe she will win. Lucky her, she and Bill can finish the cleanout job they started when he left office

I can get him to 270 votes if he wins the white south -- minus Virginia -- plus Ohio, Iowa, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Maine and NH. He is trailling only in NH. America has had the bomb no matter what happens.

A quick point about Trump voters and their motives: during Obama's administrations real wages for the vast majority of Americans have declined by up to 1500 dollars a year; only the University educatted have seen their incomes rise. The media never talks about the socio-economic basis of his support.

I am not denying the other motives, such as race; the truth is every time Obama speaks he is increasing the number of people in the white south whom will vote against Clinton; a bad thing, when black participation in the election is lower precisely because he is not running

Grassy: the Americans have already factored both California and NY into Clinton's tally, she is about sixty votes short of victory. Similarlly, they have also given Texas to Trump, he is 106 votes short of victory.

Your write about the changes in America Grassy, as you know, the whole of the white south votted Democrat until Johnson sold them out on immigration and civil rights in 1965.

Grassy was reading the other day.The blue collar vote is strong for Trump all over the US apart from California??
Ark was listening to a show on the US election.Wages have gone up 4% in the last 4 years.Corperate profits up 109%.Moving it all to Mexico. And debt doubled in 4 years now 16 trillion.Been a bad 4 years for the US.

Grassy Obama shouldn't be jet setting around campaigning for Hillary. At the taxpayer expense. To be fair to him taking over when the GFC started would of been horrible.
Trump addressed a Detroit Chamber of Commerce meeting a few weeks back. All of Ford's big bosses where there.Ford are moving there small car production to Mexico.About 7500 job losses at the Michagen plant. In a packed room Trump said if you make Thoes cars in Mexico he was going to put a 35% Tarriff on Thoes cars.

Grassy: that is true about Reagan, but he had to face a weak President Carter

Carter was probablly the nicest man ever to be US president, but he had so many problems:

the economy was still knackered because of the Arab Oil shocks of the early 1970s -- they had stagflation, high inflation and unemployment

the Soviets were running riot: the invasion of Afghanistan

the hostages scandal in Iran

In lots of ways the poor man was easing picking for the movie star turned right-winger

Gtr: history tells you that an increase in tariff will promote local industries. Men as different as Cromewll, Curtin, Menzies, Bismarck, Billy Hughes, taken together, have all supported protectionism. In Britain we have had the navigation laws, which insisted that all goods be made in the country and distributed in British ships. After the American Civil War, the Congress passed a series of tariff bills, which reaching its height in 1930, allowed the Americans to eventually compete with Britain. These are the economic facts which are as hard as the Krupp's steel -- also produced behind a tariff wall -- which used to go into Hitler's tanks --- economic facts which the Chinese Communists have learned very well.

Looking beyond tomorrow, especially if Trump fails to prevail, it will be interesting to see the trajectory of the Republican party in the future. In this connexion, will he continue to attempt to bring together the American nationalists, both Democrat and Republican, to overthrow the political-economic order. In 1912, Teddy Roosevelt, the former President, formed the Progressives, a credible third party which lost out only to Woodrow Wilson in the election of that year, and 'the great war' later. The one positive to come out of this election has been that he and Bernie have re-vived the working-class and pushed Hillary to the left. The eventual target of both will be NAFTA.
