I hope Donald makes Sarah Palin Secretary of State. Surely Rahul Dravid is a monty to be Secretary for Homeland Security?

Now I'm no fan of the billionaire buffoon, but credit where credit is due, Trump has read the US population like a book, they were jaded and tired of the political establishment, Without much help from the GOP's establishment he's won a significant majority of the votes by using simple often outlandish media grabs and thought bubbles that were easily digested by the masses. His main centre of support was in the rust belt manufacturing states where so many companies are no longer competitive, where massive numbers are either unemployed or haven't had a real pay increase in a decade, so they were an easy sell. Much of his support was also from outside the big urban/city centres and of course in the redneck southern states.

He will be working with a republican dominated congress/senate so maybe he will be able to get some legislation through, something Obama was prevented from doing from day one of his presidency. He has no political or military experience ... maybe that's a good thing, hopefully if he is the "great business manager" he claims to be, he will do what smart managers do and surround himself with smart experienced staff and advisors who will hopefully keep him in some sort of check. The big worry is foreign affairs and his tendency to run off at the mouth with inappropriate and downright offensive remarks, but he is articulate, when compared to the last Repub president, but then again my potted cactus is more articulate than George W so maybe that's not saying much.

Trumpet will be sworn in by the end of January, that's when the real "fun" begins.

the polls did show him winning that is how I managed to get him to 270 votes in my last post before the election; he was in front in the key states I listted and closing her down fast in the 'old north-west', such as Michigan.

Swan 42: I agree with you that Putin land could go for their 1945 borders -- ie Russian Central Asia and the Baltic States. He has moved missile systems capable of firring tactical nuclear weapons to Kaliningrad making Berlin well within range.

It was a mistake to expand NATO, and I have argued with politicos about if for twenty years. I have no special insight, just knowledge that Western Powers have never been able to project their power all the way to the Narva River -- Estonia's eastern border with Russia -- except for very brief periods of time by\ Sweden, Napoleon and Hitler, on the one hand, and on the other, public opinion in the West would not accept a war in Eastern Europe.

Chamberlain was right in 1938 when he describbed Prague as 'a far away place about which we know little'.

We have also made a big mistake by supportting the Kiev. The reason I say so is that the bloody Germans, the Poles and the French had agreed with Putin that the West would respect Ukraine's electtd government and backed out. The upshot of it all was that in so doing, we in the West effectivelly supportted a coup in a state that was clearlly in Russia's sphere of influence.

It would have been a lot easier to stay out of eastern Europe, or if we were going to make agreements with Russia, honour them. Lost opportunities, and plenty of slights against Russia's greatness and his personal honour, have in short, put us in a vulnerable position.

Middle class America will be stoked, they just elected a guy that hasn't paid taxes for 2 decades, he said he is a supporter of them so maybe he is going to show them how not to pay taxes ?
He has also been bankrupt a few times.
Sounds like a great bloke to save the economy.
Bricklayers will be happy when they build the wall.
Gotta love the yanks, at least it confirmed they are dumber than the poms

How do you know exactly how he will turn out as Prez? I though his speech was gracious and measured, he may just turn out to be the best one they have had in decades. He said a few things to grab votes and beat the pollies at their own game, I reckon it's a breath of fresh air.
The mainstream media should hang their heads in shame over the scaremongering retoric they have tried to denounce him with to suit their own agendas.
People need to get over themselves as the majority have spoken, just like Brexit and same with our senate elects like Hanson and the Human headline et al.
That's democracy!

You absolutely nailed it SD. And I happen to agree totally and I have held this view for several months. When you strip away all the BS the media focus on he actually spoke a lot of common sense and that is obviously what has resonated with the electorate over there and the only thing that surprised me is the margin, he didn't just win he shit it in.

But the pathetic commentators already saying well he's said nice things today but which Donald Trump will we see in the White House and the feminists are jumping on the result claiming Hillary didn't win because she's a woman. FFS sake ever heard of Margaret Thatcher, Julia Gillard and Theresa May just to name a few I can think of.

SD D Trump is a misogynistic, xenophobic racist who admitted that he sexually assaulted women. If you listened to his speeches leading up to the election to call them superficial would have given them more weight than they deserve. As for his claims about bringing back manufacturing jobs to the US his OWN BRAND of ties were manufactured in China.

I understand the electors have made their decision. I have never been so disappointed with an election result as the one yesterday. We appear to be losig all sense of humanity. As for those who believe in climate change and global warming I wonder whether the likes of Turnbull et al will send any Pacific Islander to Nauru and say they can never visit Australia if they are forced into boats because their islands are under water.

Anyone who takes seriously a bloke who says he is going to build a wall between the US and Mexico must also believe in the tooth fairy.
But people are gullible and his strength is telling people what they want to hear.
Knowing Americans they love all his bs and their gun laws are an example of that, strange people.
Tho the stoners in California will be happy with more legal pot to get thru the next 4 years

Finding a bit about the new and President today. His first trip as President is to the UK to sign a Fta.To get Britian out of the Eu.
Only a few country's will have high level diplomatic relations with the Trump US.Russia,Britian,Australia,Japan,Germany,France.
Of the treaties the US has signed. The US will no longer bankroll NATO.Nafta will change as America is loosing big time. The GoP party has always regarded Australia as a strong allie..Anzus treaty will remain in place.Have not ever heard this mentioned but Trump like Australia.
