Selwood was everywhere early and Morton got 26 possies and Wilson got 13 possies in the backline .
those 5 had a massive impact on the game..
Lycett is the key though, Ames beat Smith but Swans couldnt stop the other tall down there..

Garlett didnt get enough ball up forward, he would have kicked 6-7 up the other end..

yes Mark we know all this about Lycett, Cripps, Morton etc....we get your point? Anyway I thought SD had the best defence in the league.....surely Simpson, Notte or Howard would of sorted Lycett......and someone like Jetta or Hams could of nullified Cripps......what went wrong?.....besides the fact that Lycett and Cripps shouldn't of been on the ground in the first place!

Also your Garlett wish may come true next year, if WCE decide to draft the kid.....

Freezin perhaps you need to ring the West Coast Eagles this week to get them to send you out a membership form so you can join the club formerly known as East Perth.

Twomey, Ames, Notte, Davis & Embley were standouts for us while the others tried hard but where overwhelmed in the end and also having Geappen get injured in the 1st qtr threw our forward structure completely out of whack.
On a side note I was interested to see Nic Nat & Ashton Hams walking across the ground at 3 qtr time & walk straight past the WCEP huddle to head to the Swans huddle.
I am sure Swan 42 would have liked seeing Nic Nat show his true colours not his employers!! :)

BH, I bet NN won't be doing that next year..bit of difference ignoring 5 WCE boys in a huddle compared to 15 next year!!

as for Hams, well he will probably be one of the fella's, NN et al from WCE will be walking straight past next year.....especially if he isn't in that EP huddle.......

Good to see Cripps show his ability with his 5 goals on Sun......not too sure where Markie is coming from with his comment 'Cripps shouldn't be playing for EP'....WCE are his employers, not EFFC nor the WAFL.....strange for a SD fan to be whinging about something like that.....shouldn't the EF fans be the ones whinging that Cripps should of been playing for EF in 2014?....especially since EF missed by about 4 pts of being in 3rd spot.....naaagh that's life.....good to see Jamie put SD season to bed.

i agree with you freezin'.effc should be the ones who are whinging'.as for lycett with three of our afl players moving to peel lycett and wilson had to come to the royals so i dont know what olsen is on about.if the eagles had picked up a slew of eastern states under 18 players like the dockers did i am not sure whether they would have moved cripps and wellingham &morton over to us straight away.in the end everyone team has had some afl players.it seems that the swannie supporters have been the biggest cry baby's all year.if not the alignment it is the umpires.

Chaddy, if you look back at my serious post on this thread, I gave East Perth the credit for being by far the better team on the day. However BH was refuting the point made by a West Perth supporter who wasn't even at the ground, that the Eagles players did not have a significant impact on the game and as you and I know that is garbage as per the stats quoted. Having said that, you are correct that Swans did have Embley who did play very well and Bennell who was pretty ordinary like a lot of his mates.

As well as this many of the East Perth based players were very impressive and your midfield killed us. I have no doubt that yesterdays game was a genuine contest between two WAFL teams and you guys won out decisively.

Maybe many of the people you dismiss as cry babys and whingers are merely expressing the frustration and fear that the WAFL that they have known and loved for a long time will be a totally compromised league from 2014 onwards

not having a go at you mikeh.i find you fair but talking about afl players is a mute point.last year all four of our afl lsted players were either injured or taken as emergencies by the dockers and we got a floggin'.you cannot control who you have playing in the finals.swans had 4 that qualified we all know the newman story and maybe unlucky that lachie neale forced his way into the dockers and missed your finals team.if we had lost last week east freo would have been playing finals and bolstered with at least six afl listed players.they just couldn't win enough games thru the year to make the finals.everyone can moan about the influence of afl players but in the end it is no good getting players qualified if you don't make the finals.if the eagles had not fallen over after the good win over essendon and made the finals we wouldn't have had lycett or cripps.i still remember 1996 were chris lewis lost form and don pyke was injured towards the end of the year and both qualified to play in the tigers premiership team.in any other year it wouldn't have happened.sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.who knows next week silvagni may drop back and play for the tigers.

If only it was a mute point. I was asked after the game on Sunday whether I wss jealous of the team that beat us. My answer then and continues to be a NO. I still have a club to support; the other side doesn't.

My other point to make is that in a year when the Eagles had a fairly bad run with injuries and the host club alignment was not fully implemented the club formerly known as East Perth has a pretty good chance of making it to the GF and hence winning the GF. One wonders what it will be like when the Eagles have a good run with injuries and the host club is fully implemented. It could get very ugly.

anyway I can see why the SD boys are pissed.....bit of de ja vu from last year.....home game final...favourites....cut throat elimination......another loss to an AFL laden side......beginning with the word East.....once is bad enough....twice is a killer...

hey next year it could be worse with Nats doing what Lycett did to SD on Sun......imagine the level of whinging coming out of Markies mouth then, if that was to happen......

Freezin, I work for Sharks people so I can tell you with the utmost respect that despite losing on the weekend to a much better side I've taken great pleasure in SD making the finals at the expense of your mob. There are some of us black ducks out there who do prefer to focus on the positives. A small, hollow victory I know but something to raise a smile in the aftermath as I continue to bleed out after we turned it up in the last qtr on Sunday. If I'm still distressed come the new year I'll fast forward the ol' video tape of the 1984 GF to the end so I can hear the infinite wisdom of the great Ron Alexander being interviewed after the final siren just to hear those famous words again "You can't give a team a 10 goal start"....best insight in to the game of football I've ever heard and makes me smile like the 10yo kid i was in the first year I ever watched footy. Up until then it had been country radio. Have a great xmas and I look forward to the banter next year when ducks will dine on sharks once again!!!!

DW I am sure you won't be alone in watching some of our great GF victories of the past to keep us going over the summer break.

MarkOlsen wrote: hah Chaddy22, you are a simple fella - you are quoting WAFL rules and regs yet your CEO is using an agreement his club has with the WAFC as the basis for getting Selwood, not the rules and regs you quoted .

do some better homework and remind me who is right and wrong again :)

East Perth chief executive Dean Turner hoped Selwood would continue to play and claimed that his club's agreement with the WAFC had a provision that could keep the midfielder at the club.

"There is a clause in our agreement to allow a de-listed 10-year player to remain at the club," Turner said

i have done my homework it comes from the wafl site.maybe you and dean need to google and read the rules.
