What gets me is, Mr Stewart and co keep saying that game day gate takings only amount to about 5% of clubs revenue. Well that 5% is probably your profit.

Not sure how many entry paying adults come through the gates but is it conservative to say an average of 1000 per game? Gate entry is now 20 bucks around 17 for concession. Buying a membership gets you a discount on home games.

We play 9 home games each. $15 x 1000 = $15,000 x 9 = $135,000.

$20 x 1000 = $20,000 x 9 = $180,000. Is the EF council compensating them this much? I doubt it. Clubs don't make a lot of money, a $100,000 profit is considered a very good result.

Yes, correct DD. When my young bloke was playing junior footy at Marmion Reserve in Melville and his game was the first or only to be played that day, myself and a few other dads used to walk the oval looking for needles, dog shit, glass or anything else which could harm the boys.

I guess something similar using volunteers will be required at Shark Park.

Ok, so we are now getting down to amateur level sort of stuff. Just an insult to WAFL players and the comp. How did this get to this point of uncertainty, confusion and an absolute shit show in the making for the mob that are reigning premiers?
And isn’t that basically the set up Pooch Park in Claremont? Fenced but open to the public 24/7? It would take something like a footballer getting cut on broken glass or falling onto the ground and finding a used needle sticking into him or her for these councils to come to their senses or face litigation.
Or a nasty dose of E.Coli.
And with the skatepark behind the goals perhaps even broken limbs if a ball hits someone skating.

I hope they put one of those big nets behind them. When Bayswater council built the new skatepark right next to Morley Windmills Soccer Club's main pitch they didn't put any additional fencing in there. Apparently having a warning sign absolves them of anything.

Anyway, quiet day at work so I've trawled through some of the EF council minutes.

You'll find some bits of interest here -

www.eastfremantle.wa.gov.au/council-meet...m-minutes-050923.pdf

But to summarise - the council, not surprisingly, has weighed up overall community needs in this redevelopment although that's the answer you'll always get when things get too expensive and they have to take things out.

WAFC Ruling is EFFC wont be allowed to charge for the Derby, but they will be allowed league games with no fence despite rules.

I bet the Wafc will demand a fence when it come finals time. They get the gate takings.

Only for this year. It's going to be a big issue going forward.

Hopefully common sense prevails and a fence is installed next off-season. Then we can make some money and invest in more seating

You are not factoring the free ground rent and Maintenace which covers any lost gate.

They are getting a 30 million dollar redevelopment rent and maintenance free? I haven't heard that. That sounds as absurd as having no fences and gate entry fee. If that is the trade off then maybe it's a good deal.
