Yeah the initial design by Hunt Architects was impressive - and all for $26 million!. But I guess the builders brought them back to reality as they always do and we got about half of that for $33 million. Probably really needed $50 million really.
yeh they got sold a racehorse but were delivered a donkey. i can see that the initial design is pretty impressive, and even after the amendments the other stakeholders are probably getting what they want out of this.
but somehow EFFC are the big losers here, and when the revised plans were tabled they should have been knocking on the door of Fremantle Oval, heck Claremont Oval - anywhere looking for a groundsharing deal because this does not look good.

Original design and artists impression looks nothing like what's been delivered, the separate EFFC pavilion does not exist nor does the expansive seating or media box.

If you have a look at what's there now, it's clearly been "cut off" with capacity to extend at a later date. When or if that ever happens is another thing.

Someone flippantly posted on here about what happens to the dog shit on game day. What - do the colts have to get there early to make certain it’s ok?Can’t see the council sending out the pooper scooper squad to clean things up early on game day.Being an open area the ground isn’t going to be pristine.
But on a more sinister note what happens if suddenly it’s broken glass.Occasionally when I go to my local park certain areas are littered with broken stubby bottles mainly near trees admittedly but nothing is stopping people wandering all over the Shark Park playing surface. At least the other WAFL grounds have fences. There seems a major OHS issue there.

Yes, correct DD. When my young bloke was playing junior footy at Marmion Reserve in Melville and his game was the first or only to be played that day, myself and a few other dads used to walk the oval looking for needles, dog shit, glass or anything else which could harm the boys.

I guess something similar using volunteers will be required at Shark Park.

Ok, so we are now getting down to amateur level sort of stuff. Just an insult to WAFL players and the comp. How did this get to this point of uncertainty, confusion and an absolute shit show in the making for the mob that are reigning premiers?

And isn’t that basically the set up Pooch Park in Claremont? Fenced but open to the public 24/7? It would take something like a footballer getting cut on broken glass or falling onto the ground and finding a used needle sticking into him or her for these councils to come to their senses or face litigation.

From what I have seen Claremont Oval appears to get closed of the day before match day, but yeah its a popular place for residents to walk around, but then again CFC training seems to happen most afternoons. There is no skate park no bowls nothing else,  Its definitely still more of a football oval than anything else, EF seems to be a much more extreme concept of multi use and another thing is the precinct is different sure there are a lot of apartments around the oval but not many houses with families and pets, unlike EF oval which will attract a lot more residential activity.
