The Can Tent will be run by Belgravia (once liquor license is approved) as well they have exclusive rights for the entire facility.

I guess EFFC only hope is charging once a year at the Derby to make some cash, But now that is up in the air as it sounds like a discrimatory practice to charge at only one game and not the rest. Aren't all admission prices charges and policy controlled by the WAFC?

If what is being said is true and we’ve handed over the bar (and gate), I can’t see how we make money. Who would seriously give away control of the bar (and facility)???

Club should’ve ran the facility
The penny is starting to drop KC. Claremont it sounds like own theirs or have full control of the lease which includes surrounding businesses like Revo Fitness and a cafe. IGA is part of that building also and a pretty decent under ground carpark.

I think I need to have a conversation with a couple of people at my club on the weekend.

And in the dire financial situation your club is in, how are you going to recover your losses from the past couple of seasons? No bar, no gate?? Sausage sizzle? You would require a license for a can bar that all supporters can access I imagine.

I thought someone said when this was announced, that one of the ways of making up for having no fences was bigger crowds would result in higher food and beverage sales. Got to have the facilities for that.

The Claremont model is the way to go, they own and operate all their facilties and run functions.

I know SFFC contracted out the bar and catering to Bennys , but we can take it back any time, they pay us a flat 10K a year for the business.
Personally I dont like the set up as they have closed more and more days of trading, we do not operate on a Friday or Saturday anymore, Grand Final Days have even been closed, its really game days only during the season now and the TAB is long gone, to me its just cost cutting to save the contractors profit.

It sounds to me the EFFC is a victim of circumstance to some extent where all major decisions around design and construct of the new premises, ownership of revenue opportunities, day to day operational matters and so on were beyond the club's control and driven by the East Freo Town council, WAFC and the state government.

Even though the club will get compensation for gate takings foregone, it certainly doesn't sound an ideal situation that's for sure.

BC I also see there is a bit of vocal opposition from local residents to the ground being given the liquor license, seems odd that it was bar for decades, but I guess now the local residents have been given a chance to have input they would rather it not be there in terms of booze.

MSS83 as soon as the long delayed Freo oval redev was announced way back when, you guys should have jumped all over the opportunity to return to Freo oval as joint tenants, sharing costs and facilities is the best way to go for WAFL teams these days. Keep your identity as you have plenty of history at Freo oval and keep control of your club off field.

Had my dad's wake at Shark Park. Buried him at Freo cemetery and mossied on over. Was a great venue for this. The Sharks were training and we played them the Perth Demons theme song x 2. Very funny itwas.

Won't be doing this anymore.

Saying that - surly things can't be as bad as suggested throughout thread.

Perth's redevelopment plans have none of these problems. I have read submission quite thoroughly.

Board on shaky ground at moss Street

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

If this fails the board will need to step down. Todd Shimmon left and ive spoken to him since and does not believe it will work without a fence.

We went from having our own hall and facilities to having nothing. Yes we got changerooms and this and that we have no say in any of it. I just cant get over how small it is.

i went for a tour last week and i am not really impressed. The players gym is tiny and the players changerooms are small. There is no where to put our club history and our premiership flags. We are not allowed to put any memorabilia in the man hall as its a shared facility. its really upsetting that we had a facility that was ours and yes it was falling apart to having a a facility we have no say in. Public gym which is run by Belgravia group ism the biggest part of the whole site.

Shit, I cant believe that whoever it is, Council / Commission / Government would build a wafl football complex where the club has nowhere to display the clubs memorabilia, this is so wrong. This happened to my club and it is wrong.

If the EF board did not include an area for their history and memorabilia when negotiating with Council/government then they should be sacked, if they did and were ignored, then that is just outrageously ignorant and arrogant by the powers that be.
